Facebook has launched recently another useful feature called as the ‘Facebook Groups’ which can be used as a great addition to your business. The way Twitter offers you with the lists facility, Facebook offers you with the Groups feature. You can easily create small groups with your friends, family, business team or known contacts and keep in touch through different options. In this article we will teach you how you can create a new group, set it up and then a few advantages of using the facebook groups service.
Create Facebook Group :
You will have to first login to your facebook account and then on the left side navigational menu you will find a link to ‘Groups’ option which you need to click.
Next you will find a new option on the top right saying ‘Create Group’. Click on this button and you would get a small box to fill details for the new Group.
Next you will have to enter the Group Name which can be either your brand name or else any personal name. Next you will be asked to enter the ‘Members’ names either directly or else by typing in the first few letters of the member names. Under the Privacy option you will have three options to select from Open, Closed & Secret. Based on your requirement you can decide the privacy of the group and continue.
Setup facebook Group
Once the Group is created you will be directly given access to the Group Homepage with the link to all your groups listed on the left side menu links. The right side option would have different options like
- Chat with Group
- Add Friends to Group
- Leave Group
On the top right you will have a option of ‘Edit Group’. Click on this and you will be asked to enter a few details and customize the description. Enter a useful description for the group and set a email address which would be used to share updates directly through your email.
Add Group Picture
The final step of customizing your facebook group is to add a profile picture. This can be done by clicking on the top left option which says ‘Add a profile picture to your group’. You can add any picture upto a size of 4Mb to the group which would be shown on the top left side.
