The Huawei E585 from 3 Mobile is one of the best modem you could buy with your money because its not just a 3G modem which allows you to connect to the internet using the 3G internet connection but also allows you to access 5 wifi devices. This means that you can connect to 5 different wireless devices through this modem in wifi mode. These devices are offered by 3 Mobile which are generally locked, but you can easily find unlocked ones at ebay and in this article we are going to discuss on how you could set this up with the 3G SIM Card.
To get started you need to powerup the modem and connect it to your computer using the Wifi. This means that you will find the new wifi connection under the ‘Internet Networks’ option.
Next you need to access the 3MobileWiFi page which can be directly accessed through the wireless IP which is located at http://192.168.1.1/ following which the page would be displayed giving you different options.
The default logins to this page would be [Login – Admin, Password – Admin] following which you need to click on the Advanced Settings > Connection Settings > Profile Settings > New ‘Profile Name’ – Anything name you set (e.g. Amit 3G), following this you need to perform the following steps :
- ‘Connection Number’- *99#
- ‘UserName’ – Your network operator’s username
- ‘Password’ – Your network operator’s password
- ‘Authntication’ – PAP
- APN – Your network operator’s APN
- IP Address – Dynamic
- Click Save > Continue > Advance Settings > Connection Settings > Connection Settings
- Select your new profile from the ‘Profile List’ drop down menu
Click on the Apply/Save and all the profile settings would be set. Next you need to Insert the SIM Card, battery and connect the device back to the computer through the wifi access connection. By default the software would redirect to http://3.home/ which has to be ignored because the 192.168.1.1 is the right access URL. This would enable you to enjoy the Huawei E585 device with the unlocked software for accessing the 3G connection on your SIM Card. The device would show you the data download details along with the cellular networks towers strength and the network name. hi amit, i got same device unlocked which i m using in london. Going india in Dec and will stay mostly in ahmedabad and visit Mumbai, delhi and Chennai in 3 weeks time. what network and sim card you suggest to place in 585 device to have internet always with me. please let me know.

Reliance is a chor company. I have been using the Netconnect – supposed to be broadband for last 1 year and the speed is pathetic. I have already filed a case in consumer court to get full refund and damages for deficient service. They promise 3.1 Mbps but till date I have not got even 100 Kbps and I have changed the Huawei modem TWICE!!
The modem also is useless brand. All in all pls AVOID AVOID AVOID buying any Reliance product. You will regret…their customer service does not exist. 🙁 Shame on the Ambanis’
Hi, I just got my Huawei E585 Mobile WIFI router from UK, Costed me 4500 INR
I got a BSNL 3G DATA SIM Activated just 2 days ago and when I inserted the SIM into the router and Powered it up, All it is showing is “SEARCHING”
When I searched for it in my Laptop, I did find it and established a connection with it after keying in the WIFI Key provided by the Seller.
Now though it is showing as connected, I am not able to access the Internet.
For this as a solution the seller has provided me with a set of Instruction which can be seen at: wizadora.com/e585.pdf, these instructions are pretty much the same as provided by you.
The instruction says, After I establish the Connection with the router I should access the Settings page by keying in the IP Address of the router into my Browser, when I do so… Its not opening the Settings page…. It Just shows SEARCHING on the Screen and a WIFI logo above it with a 1 next to it, Maybe showing that 1 Computer is connected to it.
Can some one please help me set it up?
