Fixed : No Erase CD/DVD/Disc Error in Windows

November 19, 2010 by Yogesh Patel

imagesFor the rewritable discs in Windows 7 you might see the options no erase CD/ DVD and Disc option available under Disc Drive in My Computer. Among one of the best features of Windows 7 is its handful CD/DVD burner. According to Window guide, it burns discs in Live File system format or in the Mastered format and depending on which disc format you choose.

With Windows 7 you can burn discs directly from Windows Explorer, Windows Media Center, My Computer and from the Windows DVD Movie Maker. In this little introduction I will talk about the disc drive in My Computer. If you right click the disc driver icon you should gain access to all the options for the formatting/erasing and all other settings and options. Sometimes some of these features might be missed from the main menu interface. Lets see how to fix it!

  1. Try to clean the burner gently with a special cleaning solution or product.
  2. You are aware that the CD/DVD readable can’t be erased so this when you have inserted CD/DVD readable disc the option will n’t be shown and will be disabled by default. Cross verify which kind of disc you have inserted.
  3. It happens that you may find ‘erase disc’ option missing which is due to ‘Power calibration Error’. Download the following file and install it on your Windows 7. I hope this will solve this problem.
  4. Upgrade your burner with the firmware updates if proper upgrade is available.

I hope the above 4 sorted solutions resolves your problems and if anything else let us know.
