Steps to Easily Setup Your Own Proxy Website

Proxy browsingProxy websites have found an integral part of the internet world. These proxy sites uses proxy servers which bypass the firewall restrictions to gain access to the web pages which network normally will not allow to see them. Normally you can use the proxy websites to access the page where your IP is banned by the webmaster.

Proxy websites like Hidemyass, Eatmybrowser, Proxybrowsing allows you to gain access to the blocked websites, unblock sites, bypass work filters, school filters and home firewalls. Moreover in the recent past the proxy websites are used to browse the web pages anonymously so that your work is not been traced. Proxy browsers allows you to remove scripts, remove objects, allow cookies, remove flash & remove images.

Did you know that you can create your own proxy website just like Eatmybrowser and other web proxy browsing sites. Here are the instructions to set up proxy sites.

1. Choosing the Proxy Hosting Provider

First of all you need to look out for the host which allows you to set up proxy websites. 80% of the hosting provider don’t allows proxy browsing since it can overload the servers and consumes much bandwidth. So its important to choose a perfect host which allows hosting of your proxy browser. Few hosting provider which allows proxy website hosting are alloyhosting.com, sycoblue.com, wdservers.com, techentrance.com, vt16.com, versaweb.net, subohost.com, kiloserve.com, strikedata.com, iwhic.com, prahost.com, extremehost.com & lot more.

2. Selecting a domain name

The next step is to choose a domain which when read will employ that about that the site could be proxy. Once the domain is chosen, update the nameservers address at the domain provider to point at the chosen host, by default it would be pointed to the domain provider servers. Updating of the nameservers can take up to maximum of 24 hours but it’s generally done in 15 minutes or so. The name servers address are generally provided by your hosting provider when you setup your hosting account and you receive them through the welcome email.

3. Obtaining the Script

The next step is to obtain a script. There are two options available here choose from the free one or go for paid customized one. The paid customized one can charge a lot of money and free one you can get it at PHProxy or at CGIProxy. So everything is ready with the script, you need to download it and install it in the public html folder.

4. Creating MySQL Database

The next step is to configure the hosting account for the perfect functions of the websites. In the back-end of your website at CPanel you need to create a MySQL database that will be used by PHProxy script. You need to remember the MySQL database name, username and password to complete the process.

5. Editing the config.php

The script which you have download contains config.php. The script is so designed that you always need to update config.php file in order to point to your domain and hosting server. The file can be easily edited in Notepad and you need to edit the following details

  • Website Name
  • Website Address
  • Database Name
  • Database User Name
  • database Password

Provide all the details where ever asked, Once the following details have been updated, you can save the folder with the same name and same extension.

6. Uploading the Script

Use a FTP program or upload directly through CPanel to your hosting account. For FTP upload you can make use of FileZilla FTP or CuteFTP to do transfer. If you need more customization of the script then read the documentation of the PHProxy.

7. Testing For Errors

There might be some bugs found on the web page. These bugs can easily be fixed by you or you need to take the help of one who understand coding part or HTML language.

  2. Hey, In your opinion what is the best way to acces “normal” sites like Google Docs, and facebook from China. Should I try setting up a proxy or you think a VPN through my personal computer at home is a better idea?!

  5. Well, I would like to add that, the Name of the domain is crucial as most of the firewall block terms like proxy, ass and other terms. So, if the domain name itself has one of those terms, the website won’t open up.

    • Its too simple to setup a website like this . You just need to get the script for that website. You can easily get that script but they usually are priced.

  13. Yes, but i suggest you shouldn’t publish this article. Because , anonymous proxy’s will cause legal problems.

  24. Can there be a legal issues in these proxy sites? Like If any one make spam or other wrong things frm our proxy?

  26. I suppose if one is living in a country like China then its worth looking into this. I am not aware of any sites that are blocked in India, well at least in Bihar. Or are there, I am not aware of or perhaps I don’t visit them that often. Is it possible to read websites that have a pay wall.
