How to Force Refresh a Website URL in Browser

December 4, 2008 by Amit Bhawani

If you try to revisit some website and find the same content without any update, you should not guess that there were no changes made in the site because the reason behind this would be many. There would have been many changes in the website you recently revisited but you may not see them since the previous version of the website is stored in your local cache and unless you delete it , you cannot view the latest version.

Ctrl+F5 Force Refresh Website URL

You can directly do a force refresh in your browser using short cut keys like ‘Ctrl + F5’ in Firefox. Normally if you press F5 key in firefox, the browser tries to load the cache copy if available first, if not seeks for a new version, but a force refresh can help you in ignoring the local versions.

You can also delete all your cache files by selecting ‘Clear Private Data’ option under your ‘Tools’ menu in firefox.
