Apple after opening a Indian Onine store now has started offering iPod at a much lower pricing now which costs just 49$ for 1Gb model and now has introduced a 2Gb version of the iPod Shuffle at just 79$ which would normally come around to 2000Rs/3150Rs making it ultra cheap and giving a chance for everyone to buy apple ipod or gift it. Currently these pricing are already revised on the Apple International store but not yet in the new Apple India Store. The Indian store currently lists 1Gb model at 4500Rs though the local store in banglore sells the shuffle 1Gb at 3800Rs.
Seems that these guys are over pricing the Apple products in India because of the heavily growing demand and shortage of sellers. This is the very same reason why Apple Macbook Air starts at 1700 USD ie 68000Rs Basic model in the US and the starting price on the Indian Apple online store sells at 96100Rs which is seriously a very huge pricing difference. When i visited the bangalore Apple store i was amazed with the pricing difference of Apple MacBook, MacBook pro, Apple iPod and their series of products because they were heavily overprised because of the growing market , demand and very less supply of the same.
The new pricing would seriously give the Indian mp3 players a run because they are currently sold in the range of 1500-2000Rs each with 2Gb storage space and are available in local stores and also on ebay.in, indiatimes shopping, rediff shopping and other indian online stores. Even though for 2000Rs you would get a 1Gb Apple iPod but the brand, simplicity looks and other neat features would give iPod’s a special brand and would make sellers buy them over the local products.
Apple iPhones and iPods are currently a local or not so special products now in US markets but in India still there are numerous people who are trying to buy unlocked iPhones in India and are looking for the best places to buy them. 50% of the cases indians are normally scammed out of their money or are charged double the prices by legit sellers. If you are looking to buy a iPod then dont forget to drop at the Imagine store at Bangalore or Gurgaon.
