Google Cell Phone G1 Review

July 20, 2009 by Amit Bhawani

Finally, the Google phone is a reality. The phone is available in the market as G1 by T-Mobile. Though it’s brought in the market by T-Mobile, the real makers of the device is HTC. Now, the question is – how Google G1 Phone will fare in the competition when there are loads of media centric smart phones and devices? Google G1 Phone comes with stylish user Interface and an open touch screen display that is hugely in demand among the mobile enthusiasts. It has also incorporated QWERTY keypad, an auto focus camera and a completely new Operating System.

  • The Physical Appearance – It is not that the T-Mobile G1 features path-breaking looks. Rather, it is quite simple in terms of appearance. It maintains a clean structure and features a simple curve at its base. Within this curved zone of the phone, the major control keys and the trackball are placed. The phone is quite easy to handle and when the 3.2 inches touch screen display is slide opened, the full functional QWERY keypad appears. The reason why we said that Google G1 Phone is easy to handle because its dimension is 117mm x 55mm x 15mm and its weight is 159 grams, which is quite considerable.
  • Network and Connectivity – Google G1 Phone can provide up to 400 to 500 Kbps data speeds, where HSDPA (INFO) 3G network is available. The phone can support quad band GSM and EDGE connections. This gives Google G1 Phone a global appeal, as it can be used almost anywhere in the world. Users of G1 can also enjoy WiFi.
  • The Multimedia Features – Google G1 Phone comes with 3 mega pixel camera with auto focus. There is no flash and the camera is quite slow too. Though, it ca capture some nice shots, if the light is not that bad. Music is also enjoyable with G1. It does not support Bluetooth stereo but the music player is good enough to play varied music file formats such as MP3, WMA, AMR, Ogg Vorbis, WAV, MIDI and AAC (without DRM).
  • The Browsing Features – Apart from all the features, it is the Android browser of G1 that makes it special. The Android browser performs excellently while displaying website and it is compatible to support numerous windows function at the same time.
