Blogspot blogs are always limited with a lot of limitations out of which the most important one is the blog url which is suffixed with a .blogspot.com, which is really hard to remember because whenever you try to tell your friends or clients about your blog url which would have such a large url, it would be hard for them to remember it. Hence its always better to go for WordPress based blog which is hosted with a web hosting company and has your own domain name. Do you want to transfer your BlogSpot blog to a Self Hosted WordPress Installation where in you own your own domain name and web hosting account, then you need to read this guide carefully which can help you to get this stuff done real quick easily.
First of all you need to login to your Blogger blog’s Dashboard and then move over to the Settings section. Here you will find a option of Blog Tools > Import blog – Export blog – Delete blog
Click on the Export Blog link which would export most of your blogs content, settings etc in Blogger Atom export format. This can be used to transfer the current blog to another blogspot url or else a self hosted wordpress blog. Click on ‘Download Blog’ button, which will give you a .xml file with the current days backup. This will not delete your blog but will help you in keeping a complete backup.
Now move over to your newly installed WordPress Blog which you are going to run from now on. Login to the Wp Dashboard Section where you will have to move to the Tools > Import > Blogger – Import posts, comments, and users from a Blogger blog. Click on this link and you will fine a Import Blogger Tool which will automatically do all the stuff for you by just ‘Authorizing’ your account. Once you start authorizing your account you will be asked to confirm this step.
The site www.yourblog.com is requesting access to your Google Account for the product(s) listed below. Blogger – http://www.blogger.com/
If you grant access, you can revoke access at any time under ‘My Account’. www.yourblog.com will not have access to your password or any other personal information from your Google Account. This website has not registered with Google to establish a secure connection for authorization requests. We recommend that you continue the process only if you trust the following destination:
http://www.yourblog.com/wp-admin/index.php?import=blogger&noheader=true
Thats it after your approval of granting access, all your blogspot posts are transferred to wordpress easily.
