I want to move all my hotmail messages to gmail, is their any way of doing that? If yes please tell me. I am not a technical person, so it will be better if you describe the process a bit simply to me. I will be waiting for the answer.
Can I Transfer the Hotmail Messages to Gmail Actually?
Yes you can, if you are sure that you want to dump your hotmail account or use the gmail account more frequently, you can follow the option of transferring messages. I also did it, when the hotmail introduced the AJAX intensive interface. This was a bit uncomfortable to me, and I was happier with my gmail account. It has a faster loading speed and is also very user friendly interface.
I followed some pretty simple steps to transfer my messages from hotmail to gmail. These steps will appear easy to you also, even if you are not a technical person.
What Is the Process of Transferring the Messages?
The easiest process and the only one I know is by using the particular email clients, related to the Microsoft. This process is similar to the method of uploading the mails into gmail along with an added process of configuring your hotmail account.
To apply this you can use any option from Outlook Express, Outlook 2003, Outlook XP, Outlook 2007, and even Live Mail. All these email clients support the Service Provider of HTTP in case of the Hotmail mail service. This is basically the IMAP protocol meant for the Hotmail. You must also note another point i.e., the Windows Mail on the Vista OS doesn’t support HTTP servers used by most web based emailing sources including the hotmail, anymore.
For transferring messages from Hotmail, you will have to set up and configure the Hotmail mail account on any of the above mentioned email clients. Let us discuss how I did it on the Outlook 2007.
Configure and insert your Gmail email account to that same email client by means of the IMAP access. This means as you are using Outlook 2007, perform the process for both the email accounts on Outlook 2007. Before setting the system up, make sure that the IMAP is enabled on Gmail. If not, then move to Settings and click on the Forwarding & POP / IMAP button. Select the Enable IMAP option. After that, tap the Save Changes button.
Once you have added both the accounts, there must be two mail items in the email client, representing the two mail accounts.
I tried the above method, but due to some reasons, the messages in the Inbox are only transferred. The messages marked as spam in Hotmail are not transferred. Thus I have to keep going back to Hotmail just to check if some message has been marked as spam which I might have skipped. Anyhow its a nice trick.
This procedure does not work! It is neccessar install a Microsoft add on called Microsoft Office Outlook Connector. I tried to use Outlook 2003 but I am not successful.
