How to Clean & Replace Laptop Fan

September 12, 2009 by Amit Bhawani

If your Laptop is making out a lot of Noice and is not able to push out a lot of hot air from your Laptop then you are seriously in some trouble because if your Laptop gets over heated there are chances that it can go dead, if not the Operating System can get hanged and you will normally feel that the software is giving you problems. Its recommended to check out your Laptops fan before meeting a service provider who would charge you up just for opening the Laptop and give you the suggestions. The reason for this Laptops heating can be the Dust, small hairs which would have struck near the grills of your Laptop’s fan.

First of all you need to open down you Laptops Screws which are normally located below the Warranty stickers and notes and once you feel them off you will be able to locate them, using a star screwdriver you can open down you laptop. Once you open it you will find the fan located near the side section along with the grill and you need to try to remove the total fan and then do a inspection. If you feel that its damaged a lot with long use or else the dust is not easy to remove because it can become greasy too, then its time to replace it. You can get a new one from any Laptop Servicing Center and just replace it. If its still good one and you feel that you can clean it off with a Vacuum Cleaner along with the grills using a small pipe in the front and then wipe off everything with a soft cloth following which you need to fix it back correctly.

Cleaning the fan greatly improves the performance. Not just for the laptop, but the personal computers too. Speaking from my own experience.
