Best GPS Mobile Phones

June 20, 2008 by Amit Bhawani

HTC P3300 GPS Mobile PhoneGPS is one of those features that people really like to have in there mobiles. To cater he need, there are quite some mobiles which are really doing a wonderful job in providing the best services pertaining to GPS.

HTC P3300 | Nokia 6110 | Nokia N82 | Nokia N95

HTC P3300 GPS Mobile PhoneHTC P3300 comes with integrated GPS which is one of the added benefits that people can get with this phone. Although, it is a nice phone with nice features, but, the major concern that people can have is about the low processor which makes it annoying to use GPS. However, a socket can also be found for an external antenna for GPS. It comes with SIRF-STAR III Chipset along with tomtom navigator 6 software that makes life easy for the navigators. The software is certainly one of the advantages in this phone which makes it a good to buy phone. Overall, there are some pros and cons with the GPS, but, all in all, it’s a really nice phone with some best features included in it. However, there are some other options that can be used to choose the best in this regard.

Nokia 6110 GPS Mobile PhoneWhen it comes to facilities and features, Nokia is the name that can not be neglected. There are quite some models in Nokia which are providing GPS services along with some other state of the art technologies. Nokia 6110 is one of those sets that Nokia has introduced along with GPS. With a good screen size and quality, it becomes really easy to get benefited by GPS services. With scroll menus, GPS can be easily controlled; also, it connects with GPS satellites with ease and makes it easy to navigate around the city. However, it certainly isn’t that small that most of the mobiles phones are these days. Also, the text is considered to be too small to be conveniently read and some of the users have reported some problems with the satellite connections.

To get rid of these issues, there is a better version of GPS mobiles which is known as Nokia N82 which is just like the N95 but with a candy bar design. However, the feature that makes it much more effective is its GPS which is far better than the other models of Nokia N82 GPS Mobile PhoneNokia. Here, the best thing is the connectivity as it gets connected with satellites with ease and provides a rollicking speed which certainly is unlike Nokia N95 where most people have faced the problems in connectivity and speed. Also, N95 is really not satisfactory with battery life and the problem gets even more aggravated when GPS is in use.

On the other hand, N82 can really provide you a satisfactory battery life along with some other amazing features. However, for some people the design of N82 is not great for which they just leave that on its own. As a whole, there are some good things coupled with some not so good things in the models that Nokia has on offer with GPS and battery is certainly one of the issue that has to be fixed, sooner or later.

I recently bough a Nokia E51 which though is in a low range, it provides all the features including GPS. However I am not able to figure out how to use it as shown on blogs and sites. Any information on what software I would need to install to use it to show me the roads and distances in India (Lucknow) ?

    Hi Janitha,

I have a N73 and it has all the fetures that u mentioned. It is good in all the departments ( music, camera and battery life ). It has 3 MP Camera, Video camera. I feel that the response time for taking snaps is more. Previously I have used Sony Eric W300i, which was much faster in capturing snaps. In N73, you get a very large display at least comparing the other phones in that price range.

    Hi Guys,
Just to add…anyone looking for a GPS with mobile phone need to have a GPS chip inbuilt and a software with Indian Maps from Map my India, Satlink, Garmin or Nokia. Further, remember using a GPS on cell phone will drain handset’s battery quickly and u need to charge it more frequently. A big screen handset is always better for GPS usage and u must have atleast 1-2 GB memory card for maps & stuff. HTC’s are best on GPS!
    Regards
    Rajat
