Migrate from Windows XP or Vista to Windows 7 Easily with PCmover

September 29, 2009 by Amit Bhawani

When i ugraded to Windows Vista on my Laptop from Windows XP 2 years back, i had to just insert the Licensed Windows Vista Installation CD into my Laptop and continue with the upgrading procedure, but this is not the situation with Windows 7, because there is no option for you to upgrade from your Windows XP or Vista directly. Now you are left with the only option to over write the current Operating System and reinstall all the Software Applications you already had on your Computer. This can not only be a tedious job but also can be a major issue because most of the licensed software’s which had directly purchased and installed on your computer would have to be reinstalled again and you need to find the keys for them again. These can include the Anti-Virus Programs, PC Games, Tools etc.

Lets look into a Tool which can help you in moving software applications from one PC to another. PC mover from LapLink is a awesome application available in two versions which can help you in migrating from a old PC to a new PC retaining all the software’s previously installed along with their settings. You can also use this software on a Network, USB Cable, Windows Easy Transfer Cable or any other Removable Media. You just need to connect both the PC’s and install a copy of PCmover on both the PC’s for transferring all your programs.

PCmover moves all your PC’s programs, files, and settings, including:
Microsoft Office, Design Programs, PC Games, Instant Messengers, Financial and Tax Software, Spreadsheets, Photos, Videos, Music, Podcasts, Desktop Backgrounds, Icons, Browser Settings, Favorites/Bookmarks, Internet & Network Settings.

Iam sure most Window Users are waiting for Windows 7 to be available after which they can upgrade from their current Operating System and the only thing which can stop them is the current installations and their settings. Example if you have install FTP Software you would have saved all the domain ftp details in it. The same way all your Instant Messengers would have your Passwords stored, the browsers would have a lot of Add-on’s, Passwords & Bookmarks. Software for your Printer, Bluetooth, External HDD Applications, Anti-Spywares, Torrent Softwares, Codec Files etc all of which would take lot of time to reinstall and more time in configuration to the same settings which previously you have been using with.

PCmover helps you in moving everything from Windows XP to Windows 7 or Windows Vista to Windows 7 after a thorough scan of all the installed applications. Here is How the Transfer Process works in the form of a small Graphical Representation.
1. INSTALL – Install PCmover on both your old and new PCs
2. CONNECT – Connect your old PC to your new PC
3. TRANSFER – Transfer all your programs, files, and settings
