Screen Capture Software for Windows 7

February 3, 2010 by Amit Bhawani

Whenever i try to take a screen-shot in the Windows 7 Operating System, all the Images have a Black Corner or colored corners along with the transparent borders because of which they don’t look good to be published on this blog. You can check out a example in our recent article on Windows 7 Wifi HotSpot. For the browser, i use Firefox Add-ons like Screengrab which have easy and good options to take website full or selected area screenshot but what would be the solution for taking screenshots of running applications?

Here is a free software called as 7Capture which is free as well as simple application with limited options. Once you install and run the application you will be shown with a interface under which there is a list of all the software’s which are currently running.

You need to select the desired application from the list whose Screen you are willing to capture, and then click on the ‘Capture’ button. A Capture view would be instantly shown to you in the same software, as shown in the above screenshot, following which you need to click on the Save button to save a copy in the .PNG format. If you find that a application whose screen you are looking to capture is not listed on the list, you should click on the Refresh button listed on the left dock, following which it would be shown.

The best features of using this software are :
Background image has been removed
Rounded corners are transparent
7capture automatically handles complicated transparency problems such as rounded corners and Aero semi-transparent windows backgrounds.
No matter what Windows version you are using, 7capture will do its magic: clean rounded corners on Windows XP, alpha transparency in Windows Vista and Windows 7. 7capture will even capture your theme’s color for even better looking screenshots. Unattractive screenshots are part of history.
