Apple MacBook Laptops series is considered to be one of the Best Laptops because of the Performance and the Battery Support, because Apple claims that these Notebooks can run upto 7 hours on battery life while you run it on the minimum software’s usage. Apple has always been recommending the users to run the Laptop at a temperature which is not very Hot nor very Cold, and which is somewhere in between the range of 50° to 95°F while in usage and when you are Storing your MacBook it should be -13° to 113°F levels. Hence you need to implement different ways to cool down Laptop. As a part of regular maintainence, you shouldn’t always keep the Laptop plugged into the power adapter, because the electrons within the battery should be moved occasionally. This means that if you use the Laptop on battery backup once atleast once in a month’s time, then it would be better for its life.
Apple offers their customers with a ‘Free Replacement of the Battery’ if the battery goes dead and shows the ‘Service Battery’ message only if the number of charging cycles are less than 300 and this problem has grown a lot for the users who have upgraded to ‘Snow Leopard’. Though Apple claims that users can easily run the MacBook and keep it charging till it attains upto 750 cycles but the warranty is limited upto 300 cycles only. Most users have a habit of Plugging in their Laptops and using it as a Desktop, and unplugging only when they move around places, giving the battery more pressure and no discharges or charging being done, while some have a habit of overdoing this.
Important Tips for Charging & Discharge Cycles :
- Laptops are not Desktop Computers to be always kept plugged, hence you need to keep them as a portable device and make sure that its regularly charged and also used on the battery backup.
- Discharge Cycles are very Important for your Laptop’s Battery Life, hence try to avoid the charging option if the battery life is above 30%. Whenever the battery drains below 50% levels or is charged to 50%+ level, its counted as a cycle we need to make sure that these are also limited but not to 30-50 cycles a year. Hence, try to drain the complete backup before charging to ensure better health.
- Try to setup of schedule of battery drain few times a week the way you clean up your computer or scan it regularly.
- Try to run the Laptop in a regular period and don’t keep it unused for a long period of time if not the batteries would mal-function.
Find Battery Loadcycles & Battery Capacity :
You can easily find the Battery Capacity in your Apple MacBook but finding the loadcycles is not possible, because for this you need to visit the Apple Support center, who would verify the Laptop and then give you a report with the total number of Load Cycles in the life of the battery. There is another excellent app called as ‘coconutBattery‘ which displays the current charge of the battery along with current maximum capacity & original capacity. You also get information like charger information, Age of your Mac, when did you full load your battery and also save the maximum current capacity information.
