How to Add Signature Links in Gmail Accounts Footer

July 9, 2010 by Amit Bhawani 6 Comments

Problem : I have a long list of known friends and business contacts where in every single day we exchange atleast around 40-50 emails and i was looking for a way to let all of them know about my Twitter Profile or Facebook Fan Page through which they could stay connected to me apart from the emails. Along with this is it possible to make our own Emails Brandable by adding a small picture of website logo or my personal photograph along with a few lines of bio so that whenever receives my email they would get a quick idea about me, my business and my life.

Solution : Google Emailing Service – Gmail does offer you with a small option of Signature which is appended at the end of all outgoing messages at the bottom location. You can find this option at Settings > General > Signature :

Select the email account for which you want to display the HTML based signature and then in the following compose section you can enter the information, links, images you would like to be displayed at the end. The Images which are going to be added should be given as a website URL which means that they would be hosted on a third party server and Gmail is not going to host them. Just click on the Images option and then enter the ‘Image URL’ following which you will get a image preview there. Select any of these text or images and assign them Left or Right align for better display features.

Another option would be creating the Signature in another system like the WordPress Dashboard > Post New > Visual and then create a stunning looking signature, then copy everything which is displayed in Visual and paste it into the Gmail Signature Settings box.

    This is really nice feature added by Gmail team
    Earlier I used to use Wisestamp which is a great addon for the same. Though I believe using diferent signature for multiple account is going to be super handy for many.
    Have you used Wisestamp? Which one you would suggest/ WiseStamp or this official Gmail signature?

      The Gmail Inbuilt Settings are good for normal people, while for techies the WiseStamp would be advisable because it adds a extra style to the emails footer.

        @Amit:

        Though wisestamp adds extra features, but personally I would prefer the default Gmail feature as the same signature remains in-tact on every browser/system.
