I have been running adsense on many of my websites but i used to swap Kontera & adbrite in order to find which one pays higher in terms of EPC[Earnings per Click] and here are the results. Though you can find the number of impressions vary but thats because i found kontera was paying me really low and i had to stop it in the middle of the experiment.
Adbrite is generally considered a very low paying alternative to adsense but after a small comparision i have found that it pays a hell lot than adsense in some cases and pays always higher than kontera, since kontera sucks because of very less amount of advertisers in their network and very less ads displayed.
I ran adbrite , adsense & kontera on couple websites / web pages randomly just to track the final EPC[Earnings Per Click] i get through these websites. Here are some of the tracked results.
Ad Product | Number of Impressions | Total Clicks | Page CTR | Earnings | Overall EPC |
Adsense | 1,432,529 | 6,022 | 0.42% | 520$ | 8.6 Cents |
Kontera | 343,951 | 8,509 | 2.47% | 268$ | 3 Cents |
Adbrite | 2,170,352 | 4,227 | 0.19% | 499$ | 11 Cents |
You can clearly find from the above results that Kontera is one of the incontent contexual ad program which pays the lowest payout and if you have seen the adverts you can easily find that the maximum ads are for shopping.com, other hand adbrite has a huge amount of advertisers in their network which keep rotating similar to adsense. These are my results from the experiment what about you? Which ad network is paying you the highest after adsense? Is it adbrite or kontera?
Man.. 11 cents per click from adbrite, that is amazing and i have to start my website but i will take some more time in finding my best niche… Great article!
Depends on the nice too and adbrite takes good amount of time in order to pay back to you for your traffic unlike other PPC programs.
Hello,
I’m from Kontera. I’d have to see more details about the experiment. It would be hard to respond beforehand.
Were the two campaigns conducted on the the same sites? For how long? During which period in the year?
Many factors influence CPC and among them are the days of the week and the timing within the year. These changes have to do with advertisers’ demands.
I’d like to learn more, anything we can use to help us improve is most welcome.
Thanks,
Mika

Kontera
Mika you can check out my account details with my login email amitbhawani **at** gmaildotcom I tried to run it on 2 sites but the EPC was always the lowest and the small amount of dollars i made were never paid to me even though i updated my paypal email on account 🙂 Still the code is running on some pages which i dont even remember now and it shows that the current income is at 2Cents/click. Oh yes it just decreases rather than increasing. I was told in the beginning to ad the code on the maximum amount of pages and when i did the same the level of income didnt increase when compared with Adbrite’s incontent linkads.
Kontera is a good one … i have tried it …actually m using it on few of my sites …
good revenue from it 😉
May be it depends on the niche and your audience 🙂
Yes Amit … the whole game is of which Niche ur targeting the Ads with. 😉
If you are using AdSense, give ContextGain a try. It’s a brand new product by Doclix that lets you create in-text links that open up a sidebar with your AdSense ads alongside related content. Essentially every click (or a mouseover) on a link creates a new AdSense ad impression. CTR is pretty high…
Disclaimer: I work for Doclix but regardless, out publishers tell us that it generates higher revenue compared to the in-text ad networks plus it actually adds value to your site and improves user experience…
Is Kontera offering paypal payment option for india ?
In my experience, Kontera is one the worst of the AD partners we’ve ever worked with. Right now they are tanking with pay outs down over 60% this year. They have very poor targeting. They ran Ford truck ads on our movie site that upset our readers. On top of that they are short on inventory and even if you have the traffic they cannot pay for it. We found them to be pretty sneaky. When we threatened to leave about the above problems, they scrambled to give us a better rev share, but they shorted us on inventory. We got paid less than before on more traffic. Finally when we demanded they let us out of agreement for the reasons above, they refused and will not send our final payments.
Do yourself a favor. Sign up with Chitika or Vibrant Media. You’ll get a good rate, targeted ads your readers appreciate and as much inventory as you can sell.
@ Jackster : This is the very reason i have also removed kontera and iam trying out other incontent click ads networks. There are around 10 different networks we can give a try.
I tried Kontera for some time, it was slow – it was low paying – it sucked. I am searching for a good network (preferably Indian) which provides high quality and nice paying incontent ads. What are the 10 different networks providing the services (and which is the best one) ?
Also, like AdBlock Plus blocks normal ads on Firefox and IE7-Pro on IE, is there is setting/software to block in-content ads ?
Has anyone tried NetAudioAds. The concep seems good but has not paid anything to me as yet.
Your average of 3 cents for Kontera is already very good. Mine is only 1.7 cents. I’m looking for alternatives now.
Hi amit
i am new blogger and i am using adbrite for my blog and i am happy with this. Can you tell me that adbrite have option to pay me via paypal?
Or if they will send me a check than what i have to do?
Reply
mohan
@mohan – Adbrite pays only via Check and it takes around 20 days for recieving the Check Payment in India. May be they would add Paypal option in future.
Thanks amit for reply but how can i convert that $ into indian Rs.
Plese tell me because i am new in this feled
@mohan
Try adsense + infolinks = great combination. 🙂
Kontera really sucks, we tried it on many of our sites and found it really sucks. We tried it for different niches and our CTR was around 2 to 3.5 but the ecpm was the worst one not even parts of a cent. For one of my clients site we have seen an average of one cent per 20 Clicks for giving 10000 impressions per day. Oh really pathetic and keep away.
For my website i am having adbrite ads now i can apply for google adsfor my website .help me amit i am new to this job i am dont know how to improve my traffic . Is adbrite is good for my website ?give your opinon sir. reply me
I am using kontera on my blog and trying to optimize the ads revenu.
Hi Amit,
I know that this is an old thread, but I’m happy to inform you that Kontera actually has the best payout!
We’ve just updated our terms, so that all new publishers get a 70% revenue share rate, which is the highest in the industry! We’re also offering a special $50 bonus for all new publishers who get at least 25,000 U.S. page views during their first 30 on Kontera. The minimum payout threshold has also been lowered from $100 to $50, which is also an industry best (the Infolinks payout minimum is between $50-$400).
Kontera can offer such favorable publisher terms, because we’re already the most popular In-Text network among publishers. The innovative algorithm of our contextual network, which break down each and every one of your webpages by topic, individual subject, and keywords delivers ads with unparalleled relevancy to your content, which translates into higher CTR and better CPC than other In-Text networks can offer.
Kontera also has the advantage of an exclusive premium ad inventory, featuring high qualify, often Rich-Media ads from the biggest brand names such as Ford, Samsung, Intel, Dove, L’Oreal, Blackberry, Dominos, and Kmart. These high CPC ads are always visitor favorites and inevitably lead to higher click through rates.
Offering the best relevancy technology and the most desirable ads, I also want to extend the $70 revenue share rate. While it’s primarily meant for new publishers, if there’s anyone who’s been a Kontera publisher in the past or present, you can e-mail me and I’ll happily change your account to the 70% revenue share.
Thanks

My Kontera earning is just 3 cent at the moment. I am currently trying AdBrite and hopefully it is the alternate for Adsense.
