Whenever you plan to chat with your buddies, instead of using the services like Google Talk, AIM or Jabber you can make use of the Apple iChat application which comes pre-installed on all the Mac OS X based computers. The advantage of using this application is that you don’t have to use different services like Google Talk for Text Chat, Skype for Multi-Person Video and other features. In this article we will show you how you can get started using this service and enjoy all the features available, instead of trying hard for installing the Google Talk for Mac OS X.
Click on the iChat Application Icon from the Apple Dock and the application would show you the following window asking you to continue to get started with the setup.
Next you will be asked to setup the Account where in you will have to enter the logins of any of the account you would like to log into.
Once the correct logins are entered and when you click on the Next button, the initial setup would be completed and you will be logged into your account through the iChat Application.
Once the installation is completed and you are logged in, you can next get started adding your friends and family. You can add new buddies here by clicking on the ‘+’ symbol on the bottom left of the application.
Next a small window would be displayed asking you to Enter the Account Name, Group Selection ie from Family, Friends, Co-Workets etc, First Name & Last Name of the buddy.
Once you perform the above action, your friends would be displayed on the main screen of the iChat under the Buddie or the Offline category based on their current Online Status.
You need to click on any buddy or right click and select text chat to initiate a text based chat with your friend which would be shown as below.
