Apple iPhone does not offer you with a option which Nokia offers in case of managing contacts. In case of Nokia Mobile Phones you can easily move to the contacts section and send or transfer all your contacts to your SIM Card and vice versa which is helpful when you are going to buy a new handset and need to move all your contacts. Other media like Photos, Music, Videos etc can be easily shared by either downloading to your computer or else by syncing the same through iTunes and syncing back when the new device is connected.
Before you start getting confusing on this stuff you should learn How to Sync your Apple iPhone.
Next Apple offers you with four different ways to Sync and take a backup of all your contacts which were stored in your Apple iPhone. By default the Windows Contacts is set, though you can select Outlook, Google Contacts or Yahoo! Address book options too. In our case we had earlier tried out Google Contacts option and it just synchronized and merged the Gmail email accounts of all the known friends and contacts which is something which was not required, hence selecting the Windows Contacts option is the best option as by default there are not contacts in it and only the ones you transfer will be added.
A Windows Contact would have the following fields in it – E?mail addresses, Pictures, Phone numbers, Street addresses, Family information, Website addresses & Notes.
Connect the first Apple iPhone and then run the iTunes application. Next under the info tab check on ‘Sync Contacts with Windows Contacts’ and then click on Apply button which will start the iPhone to download and sync all the contacts which will be available on your computer. You can next access and confirm these contacts in Windows Vista, Windows 7 by searching for ‘wab.exe’ in the Start Menu where all the contacts are stored in folders and groups.
Next once you find all the contacts stored in your computer you will have to again access the iTunes when connected to the new iPhone device. Click on Devices > Info > Sync Contacts with ‘Windows Contacts’ option and then click on Apply option which will start synchronizing all the contacts back to the iPhone.
That’s it all your Phone contacts are transferred to your new device with a few clicks. This option is also useful in backing up all your mobile contacts because this data can later be transfer to any other mobile phone.
i am unable to sync my apple device. Gives this error “Unable to connect device.”
so again, if I have this long used iphone, and have new computer where I want to transfer my contact from iPhone, following these steps won’t delete any of my contacts on the iphone, right ?
