Recently there had been a flurry of handset launches which are powered with Google’s Android operating system. Are you confused on which handset to go for a budget of between Rs. 11,000 and Rs. 19,000 then we will guide you in this process so that you can choose the best available option out of many devices in the market.
LG Optimus One
It seems that LG has gone one step ahead and launched the most efficient and the best phone LG Optimus One in the market which just costs around Rs. 12, 000. With the first phone in this category to offer the latest Android OS version 2.2.Froyo. With the latest 2.2 Froyo you can share your internet to other devices by turning your phone into a wireless router, with a faster performance plus capability to install apps on a micro SD card, and compatibility with some of the recent Google apps like Voice actions. This phone just adds that extra magic which the other handsets failed to deliver, yes I’m talking of Samsung Galaxy 3, Sony Xperia X8 and also HTC Wildfire.
This LG Optimus One is powered with a 600 MHz which may lag sometimes but with a price tag of just around Rs. 12, 000, this phone is truly a value for money device. This device boasts the power of 1500Mah battery strength with a 3.2 Mp camera which is best for average to good quality of pictures, average for Night pictures and good for day images. How can we miss the multimedia part, this phone has been given support for DivX and X Vid playback capability straight from out of the box and music quality too is not that bad if compared with its close competitors. Also refer a complete detailed review on LG Optimus One. All in all, this phone can be described in just one word, value for money.
Sony Ericsson Xperia X 8
As this phone has a quite a big name, Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 wish it had big list of features but that’s not the case. People generally buy Sony phones just for Music and camera clarity but one has to accept that Sony has always delivered in this criteria but if you ask whether this phone deserves a buy then I would simply not recommend this device, as this phone comes for any thing around Rs. 15, 000 and if it doesn’t have 3 G then what’s the use of investing so much of cash in purchasing this device and also it lacks front camera with which you cannot make video calls.
And also this device has just received the update of Eclair 2.1 from its past 1.6 version which is not impressive either. I’m sure you will agree with me that this phone surely doesn’t deserve a buy. If you compare with any other phones, this device has just got a screen size of 3.0 inches unlike most of them has got 3.2 inches display and also the 3.2 megapixel sensor on has a fixed focus which only adds to the list of disadvantages. All in all this doesn’t deserve a buy.
Samsung Galaxy 3 i5801
If this article would have been written down the line 2-3 months back then I would probably recommend you to buy this but sorry to say that as market has evolved to a better set of smart phones its now evident that these phones has to be replaced with the new set by Samsung as this handset device has now lost the charm to attract the consumers. Though it has a speedy 667 MHz of processor in it, DivX and X Vid capability support, Wi Fi, Blue tooth 3.0 compatibility nicely complemented with a 3.2 inches of screen size, this lacks in screen resolution as it only has 240 X 400 pixel size which is much lower if compared with others like HVGA 480 X 320 pixel resolution size.
And also what adds to the list of negativities is that this phone feel is very plasticky and also screen tends to accumulate all of your finger prints which I think is the biggest disadvantage of touch phone. With still its price hovering around Rs. 12, 000 mark, this doesn’t deserve a buy as with an addition of Rs. 500 you will get a better device which has a better resolution size.
HTC Wildfire
Again like I mentioned with the case of Samsung Galaxy 3, this would have been a decent choice a few months ago since there weren’t many Android phones in this price range at that time in the market. The list of positivities include HTC UI Sense enhancement with which you will experience the best of the on screen keyboard. But with a 320 X 240 pixel size and 3.2 inch screen size, the screen looks ugly and with a slow processor of 528 MHz this lags just too much.
Though it has a 5 Mp camera images tend to look bad as due to low screen resolution and with a price tag of Rs. 14, 500 this surely doesn’t deserve a buy. In this case Old is definitely Gold but a rock. Also the problem with HTC phones is the availability of these phones, the phones from HTS are hardly available anywhere in the market. If you are lucky you will get this device to buy. Really a perfect showcase of worst distribution.
Garmin-Asus A 10
This device from the table of Garmin Asus pledges to bring the best experience of maps right on your device, with a fairly good 3.2 inches HVGA screen complemented with an Android 2.2 version of OS and UI enhancement and sturdy over all build, this device offers a great value in all. The main USP of this phone is the turn by turn navigation facility which is simply a fabulous feature. Also there are various pre installed apps which will make life much more simple. With a 5 MP camera clicks pretty good quality of images but since with an absence of LED or Xenon flash you need to compromise on the view ability of the images if you are planning to buy this.
With a market price of around Rs. 18, 300, this device can also act as a car kit package to deliver you the perfect experience of navigation services especially when you have the power of voice assistance with this device. But if you are not the person who don’t navigate much then device is probably not for you. This device reminds me the look of Samsung’s Galaxy S. Videocon Zeus V 7500
Starting with the looks this phone delights just too much, specs wise this device is rock solid as it has a high resolution screen of 480 x 320 Pixels with a 3.2 inched multi touch capacitive screen with a motion G Sensor. This device recently upgraded from 1.6 Android OS to the Éclair 2.1 version. This phone also has an advance feature list of multiple audio and video supports and also powers a 600MHz of processor with support of 3.5G, Wi Fi, GPS and multiple Bluetooth support this phone is truly a rock star. This device also has a 3.5mm jack and 5 MP camera with a capability to record videos at 24 frames per second (FPS) in the most advanced formats H.263 and MP4.
This phone also comes with a proximity sensor and digital compass and also comes with 5 customizable screens, audio recorder, Loud speaker, FM recording capability. If you are planning to buy this phone then don’t forget to collect a lot of freebies with this phone as this phone is packed with an 8GB micro SD card, a car charger, a leather carrying case, two batteries (one additional), charging adaptor, USB data cable and also with stereo hands free. Lastly I would only like to say that I may sound bit biased when talking about this device but truly it’s a great value for money device, but again don’t just always believe on specs, it is always to get a feel of any device before buying the device as its always a better choice to experience and take any device. This phone comes with an attractive market price tag of around Rs. 11, 000. Also refer for a complete detailed review on Videocon Zeus V 7500.
Motorola Quench XT3
After a long silence Motorola again came to India but this time with the advanced Quench XT3 looks no different than most of the phones featured in this article. This device has Gorilla Glass covering its 3.2 inches screen size which is the same one used in Nokia N8 smart phone protects the display from scratches. Despite violent rubbing of the device with the sharp metal objects this doesn’t seem to scratch, leave it to the accidents and don’t please try this if you are planning to buy this. With DivX playback support out of the box and 3.2 MP camera and absence of auto focus the images tend to become blur but with LED flash images tend to be clear at night.
With good build and overall feel experience, This device too like Sony Xperia X8 has been updated now with Android 2.2 from the past version of 1.6. If you are planning to buy Sony Xperia X8 then this device is the perfect device and is value for money as this just costs Rs. 12, 000 unlike Sony Xperia’s X8 of around Rs. 15, 000.
Dell XCD 35
Dell too joined the Android bandwagon late earlier by debugging the Dell Streak tablet but recently Dell has come up with a set of new smart phones which are Dell XCD 28 and XCD 35 XCD 35. Dell XCD 35 which boasts a screen size of 3.5 inches, FM Radio and 3.15 MP a resolution of 2048×1536 pixels complements this device to a maximum. This device can practically store unlimited contacts and messages.
This device comes with an internal storage of 150 MB but can be expanded with the help of micro SD card to a whopping 32 GB. It almost has all standard features like A-GPS support and also supports multiple audio formats. The USP of this device is that this handset comes with an advanced exchange warranty of 1 year in which if phone is not serviceable or has some major issues then the device will be replaced with a new fresh one free of cost. Please note that this device is still not launched in India but soon will be launched in December with a price tag of around Rs. 17,000.
So which would you suggest to buy? which one wins?
if i would asked to choose from, then i would preferably choose one from Videocon Zeus or LG Optimus One.
Well I’ll better wait for few more weeks if you really want to go for Android Phone as Android 2.3 GingerBread is coming in next few days. It have great features and I think Android 2.3 OS will change Smartphone use with some excellent features which leaked by different sources.
if I am not wrong , it should be added the LG Optimus One has a resistive touch screen. This could be a pain while using an android phone which is almost completly touch screen based. Readers are requested to consider this, which i feel is a very important part in the UI
uh dude what? resistive touch screen? Go look it up, it’s got a capacitive one, you’re talking about the shitty old model and he’s talking about p500, the new one!. It sells like hot cake and stores go out of stock everyday here in Mumbai! That is the best in below 20k range EASILY.
Can you actually trust Videocon with 11k? I definately can’t.There’s not even RELIABLE (mentioning again, RELIABLE) reviews of how the Videocon fares, so the best thing you can do for now is to buy the optimus one p500 🙂
@ siddhesh: yeah u r right. u should go for lg optimus one..it surely comes with a capacitive touch screen and is much much better than videocon. u just cannot add on some goodies in order to make up for the drawbacks.. just look at its user reviews.. it sucks buddy…. i’ll anyday buy lg even before dell xcd
LG Optimus One P500 has 8.1cm Capacative Touch Screen and not resistive. source : http://www.lg.com/in/mobile-phones/all-phones/LG-P500.jsp

lg optimus one p500 is best. Sony ericsson xperia x8 is worst.
we can also look at Samsung galaxy Ace.
800 Mhz Processor, 278 MB RAM, 3.5” Screen
5 megapixels with flash
and most important it cost only 14,700/- in Ahmedabad
wel i just want to say dont go for ace it is bcoz if u seein processor of 800mhz it is just overclocked as it is having same processor lik lg optimus one , next one the ram is so low in ace tht it wil purely destroy your gaming xperience yup i hv tested, ur gaming experience definitely lags in it only plus point of this phone is its screen size n camera n as screen size doesn’t matter alot but u only left with camera n i don’t think to spend extra 4k-5k for 5mp, 3.2mp is also gud yes if u really dont intrested in gaming or installing many softwares in ur handset thn go for ace otherwise optimus is best n value for money not available for Rs10k
can 600 MHz is capable Processor For gaming and application.?
and what about touch screen in lg optimums.?
can we do video calling in lg optimums one.?
wel both the phones using same chipset so.. it is not an issue if u r differencing between ace n lg optimus n yes u can easily instal both games as wel as apps easily in optimus one as it has beter ram n better resolution
now the touch response is awesome in both the phones n both the phones ace n optimus n there is no lag, they doesnot support video calling as both r 3g but dont hav front facing camera
if u want a budget handset in about 10k go for optimus i recommend u tht if u want to spend more about 20k th i gave u two choices
1. samsung galaxy sl a very intresting n 10 on 10 phone in this budget good screen size good camera 720p recording 4gb internal memory android 2.2 n lots more available at 18k-19k only thing lags is the camera without flash…….!!
2. motorola defy is also a nice phone available around 17k-18k (water proof, dust proof n scratch proof )these features r only available at this phone n this is the only phone in india with these 3 qualities in one phone besides it has gud processor gud resolution screen size etc etc.. but the only thing it has it runs on android 2.1 but motorola has confirmed its upgrade but u hav to wait for the official one..!!! another thing is that it doesnot supports 720p recording :(:(
