Aluminum is a non toxic, soft, non magnetic and light weight metal which can be found through out the average home. Serving plates, Cooking utensils and furniture in the lawn are some of the common items present in the house which sometimes are made out of aluminum. This is one of the cheapest of metals. The only problem with aluminum is that it loses its luster easily. Its not difficult to clean aluminum but it badly responds to abrasives, which easily leaves scratches. To maintain the look of aluminum at its best, frequent cleaning using household cleaners is required.
All that you have to do to clean aluminum is, follow the steps given below in order.
- Take a bucket and fill it with warm water. Squeeze in some quantity of dish soap in to the bucket. Soak a sponge into the bucket with the soapy solution. Use the sponge gently on the aluminum and wash it thoroughly. If the aluminum is an utensil such as a pot or a pan, put it inside the bucket and let it soak for about 15 minutes. This will loosen all the food particles stuck on it.
- Take a waffle-weave microfiber. Dip it in the bucket with the soapy water. Once it is wet, rub it on the aluminum to remove embedded dirt.
- Now pour half a cup of white vinegar on a sponge directly. Rub the sponge with the vinegar on the aluminum. Let the vinegar sit on the aluminum for about 10 minutes. If the aluminum being cleaned is a cookware , pour one cup of white vinegar directly on it. If its the latter, set it on a stove until its slightly boiling. Once it starts boiling , remove it from the heat and let it cool down for about 5-10 minutes.
- Again pour half a cup of vinegar on the sponge and scrub the aluminum. Stubborn stains can only be removed with some extra effort and require more time to soak.
- Rinse the aluminum and clean it with a dry towel.
That’s it. Your aluminum is clean and is as good as it can possibly be.
