How to Convert MP3 to M4A format

The most reasons why people wants to convert from one format of file to another is that the file should be playable on their media device. The media device here can be anything like mobile phone, handycam, computer or a media player.

What is M4A format?

M4A stands for ‘MPEG 4 Audio’ its a file extension of MP4 format which contains only audio.We just now that MP3 is surely an audio format for the definition and clear understanding we have put forth MP4 which is a known media format. So if your MP4 file contains audio files but not videos in then you can easily rename it into M4A format and viceversa. M4A format occupies almost half the size as that of MP3. The M4A player came into picture when Apple started using this file format. As it’s also called ‘Audio part of MP4’, audio/video player which are capable of recognizing MP4 files should also recognize M4A extension. The popular Windows Media Player also supports m4a format with media codec provided you have the latest version.

    i think almost all conversions of file formats from and to can be obtained from the free converter FORMAT FACTORY. TRY IT.

    Hi Yogesh

    Thanks for the tip…few days back i tried converting one wmv file to mp3 . i kept all the conversion specs high. But my listening experience of the output file was not great. I doubt the ability of the converter i am using. Can you suggest some tool by which we can check details of audio file thus produced. Even though file header may say 320 kbit the actual file might not be of the same bit rate ??
