Google Instant Preview is the latest development from Google which is added to search results in Google search engine. Instant Previews adds a small magnifying glass or spying glass in all the search results for a particular keyword you type and provides an insight preview of the web page (layout of the webpage) without actually visiting the web page.
Hovering over the magnifying glass or spying glass does nothing and you need to click on it to activate and display spying glasses. Now the snapshot would be displayed for all the results available. The Text call out features highlights where you search terms appears on the web page so you can evaluate what you are looking for.
Here is the video which gives brief insight with it-
According to the Instant Preview officially by Google, Instant Preview has the following benefits
- Quick Comparison of results
A visual (image based) comparison of search results helps you pick with best results for you. - Pinpoint Relevant Content
Feature like Text Call Out highlights where you search term appears on the web page so you can quickly get what you are looking for. - Interact with the Resulting Pages
By proving the layout preview you are actually visiting the webpage quickly.
However, some internet users may don’t like this feature since internet geeks don’t like disturbances in Google results. I personally too don’t like this feature. This is the way on how you turn off this feature.
- Block Scripts on Google-
Use an extension like NoScript to block scripts on Google and this can indirectly block Instant Previews. However it may have side effects too on Google.com properties. - Switch to country based search engine-
Till now this feature is not implemented in country based Google search engines and so to avoid it you can go with your country based Google search extension. - Browser Change-
Instant Previews is not available in Opera, whereas its available on Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome. So switch to Opera to avoid it. - Use Scroogle
Use a custom Google search engine like Scroogle which displays the same results without the elements that have been added by Google in the past years. By doing this you can easily avoid instant preview.
Google Instant Previews is a noticeable feature that becomes activated after a user clicks on a spy glass. Google is looking to activate this feature directly without clicking on the spy glass and to disable this feature permanently, as of now there is no options available.
As I said from my personal view I don’t like this feature because it slows down my searching with Google with those unwanted images. So what you think of Google Instant Previews?
