Hey Amit, we have been reading your blog from the past 2 years and have liked every single article. We have learnt a lot about different software’s which you have reviewed here and also all the tips and tutorials you keep posting regularly. Recently we switched to the Windows 7 Operating System at our office but regularly we get issues with the Audio Sound Problems which when we contacted our tech support company mentioned that there would be problems with the Sound from Speakers or Headphones. We did our best in trying to make them understand our problem but its still hard. Is it possible to easily make some kind of list of all the errors which the computer is encountering and the same if i can email to the team to diagnose.
Solution : This is a very simple job if you check out all the options available in this wonderful operating system. Called as the ‘Problem Steps Recorder’ which is a tiny tool which comes pre-installed on your computer in order to record all the problems in steps by steps which can be later forwarded to your computer technician. Very useful when you are in some serious kind of PC related trouble and the tech support team is available on the other side of the world.
To get started, you need to click on the Start button and type ‘psr’ which would list down all the results available for this searched keyword.
Next click on the result which says ‘psr.exe’. It will open the PSR applications interface where you would a very limited number of buttons or options to use. The job here gets started by clicking on the ‘Start Record’ button which would start recording all the steps you perform on your computer.
The software does not work like the Screen Capture applications hence it allows you to perform all the steps which could be giving you the problems and also add comments in the middle of the recording which would show up in the form of a message.
Overall a very small application which would work wonders in getting your problems solved. You can fix all your Windows 7 Problems using the final report file which is exported under a .zip file. Unzip the same and you would find a .mht [MHTML Document] which has all the data listed in step by step along with screen captures and additional details. Under the settings you can easily email the final report to your hardware team without the need for uploading through your email.
