Google AdSense ad serving has been Disabled

April 20, 2011 by Amit Bhawani 68 Comments

This may sound like a shock to many bloggers who have been following us from past 3 years because the Google Adsense serving has been disabled on this blog for one small issue which was something generally considered as a browser issue. If you guys have been following me, you should have known that my mantra for business is ‘Never Put All Your Eggs in One Basket‘ and this is because we do not know what kind of issues you have to go on in the coming future.

First came the announcement in 2007 by Google which suggested to Stop Selling Text Links, or else expect a series of penalties, followed by the Google MayDay Update which killed all the long tail search traffic and it literally killed the traffic for many small time bloggers and websites. This year again there was another major algorithm update called as the Panda Update which has made most webmasters loose upto 60% of their traffic.

Recently i had published a small but useful article on a service where in the Images were overlapping over the adsense ads when you visit the blog post on a small screen and Google sent us a mail to fix the same.

Hello,

During a recent review of your account we found that you are currently displaying Google ads in a manner that is not compliant with our program policies (https://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/answer.py?answer=48182&stc=aspe-1pp-en).

————————————————–
EXAMPLE PAGE: [removed]

Please note that this URL is an example and that the same violations may exist on other pages of this website or other sites in your network.

VIOLATION(S) FOUND:

DECEPTIVE AD IMPLEMENTATION: Publishers may not implement Google ads in a manner that disguises the ads in any way. In order to maintain a good user experience, it is important for publishers to clearly distinguish Google ads from site content. More information about this policy can be found in our help center (https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=177526)

REQUESTED ACTION: Please make all necessary changes in the next 72 hours. If the violations are corrected within the aforementioned time period, ad serving will not be affected. If changes are not made and/or other policy violations are encountered during the review process, ad serving will be disabled to your site.

ACCOUNT STATUS: ACTIVE

Your AdSense account remains active. However, if we continue to find problems, we may disable your entire account. Therefore, we suggest that you take the time to review the rest of your network to ensure that all of your other pages are in compliance with our policies.

————————————————–
Thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
The Google AdSense Team

We had actually fixed the issue by removing the Images from that specific article to ensure that the overlapping does not happen and also responded back to the Google Team with the same, but today exactly after 5 days instead of their 3 days warning they disabled the ads with the message sent to us saying ‘Google AdSense ad serving has been disabled to your site’.

We previously notified you about a policy violation on your site, and we asked that you make changes within 3 working days. After reviewing your site, we’ve found that the previous violation was not corrected, or we’ve found another violation. Therefore, we’ve disabled ad serving to your site.

I have different views regarding this problem where in the positive note is that, its good that the Adsense team informs us when they find any violation but again its bad that they give you just 3 days time and even if its fixed within the time frame, Google does not support you and warns about the right to disable your account at any time.

Update : Exactly after 19 hours, the Adsense team have fixed the issue and the ads on this blog are running up again. Thanks everyone for the support and special thanks to the Google Team for quickly sorting this issue. Do read our article on How to Get Your Banned Adsense Account Reinstated.

Sometimes when you visit a blog on a different browser resolution then the Images *may* overlap the content or ads and that is what happened in our case, which triggered the automated system to flag the domain name.

I’m hoping Amit, Google will soon start displaying Adsense ads on your blog again. But It’s good that you are using other monetization methods as well on your blog, so in case you lose revenue from one, you have other networks to support you.

Generally the other ad networks dont really help because of the low paying ads and very less fill rate.

It is really a shoking news that Google sometimes proves their monopoly. But going through your article it becomes clear that they probably has some software for tracing the websites that violates their terms and automatically flags them but once these problems got fix, the the reverse de-flagging process may not exists there.

So, seems that you have received the mail from some auto generated mailing systems that traces the flagging issues and send the mail accordingly. But since that is auto generated mailing system, so your there is no one to respond to your mail that you have fixed those issues.

Though I am not sure about such things and this is my personal view.

Really it’s difficult to survive without Adsense. I know there are many options but those doesn’t work as effective as Adsense. At least for all India publishers.

It’s also good to know that Google is informing publishers about these violations.

I know putting all our eggs in one basket is dangerous but what can I do if that basket is so perfect that I don’t even thinking about other basket 😉 my 90% income is from Google.

I think google is playing with small publishers. I dont know the reason for disabled.
I spent time, given them space and bandwidth, and they earn money. They will never return any money to advertisers. It is really bad practice of google and it must be stopped.

While going through our records recently, we found that your AdSense

keeping your account in our publisher network may financially damage
our advertisers in the future, we’ve decided to disable your account.

I have seen many image based websites using adsense ads but adsense don’t allow ads on sites with little or not content.. Why is this policy so strict only for Indians ??
