Do you want to guide your visitors in your wordpress posts by adding a Google Map in your blog post? Its not as simple as adding a video to your blog post because you need a wordpress plugin to make this work along with Google Maps API which you need to signup.
Signup for Google Maps API Key
In order to get started with Google Maps API Key you need to signup here – http://www.google.com/apis/maps/signup.html. This API allows you to embed google maps into your webpages be it wordpress based blogs or any other web pages. A Single API key is valid for complete domain ie any directories under it and these key’s are provided on domain name basis.
Once you enter your specific domain name on which you are going to embed these maps you get the API key.
Next you need to download Inline Google Maps WordPress Plugin from WordPress Plugins Directory. Upload the plugin to your wp-content>plugins folder and Activate it. Under the Settings>Inline Google Maps Tab you can find settings of this plugin. Here you need to enter your Google Maps API Key which you recieved using the above process.
Iam using this plugin on my jobs website and trying to help the website visitors in easily finding the job locations by embedding location maps with the posts. You can specify the Maps langauge ie English/Japanese and also change the settings of the Width & Height of the map if your theme does not allow you the normal maps size.
Now the plugin is activated, API key entered and its ready to start working. Next you need to check out Google Maps, for your required location. Iam looking to add a Google Map in a article named as Jobs in Las Vegas where i will need Las Vegas Location Map, which i can find using the search box in google maps.
Once the Map is loaded you can find Link option in the right side top corner of the map, which you need to click to get the ‘Paste Link in email or IM‘ code. Copy the code and then enter into your wordpress blog’s Write Post section.
In the blog’s Write Post section you need to write a small line like ‘Map’ and click on ‘Insert/Edit Link‘ option to get the Insert Link box. You need to make sure that the title should be ‘googlemaps’ for this thing to work.
Once you add this link code, and publish the map works perfectly. Try out implementing this process in your blog in case you are looking to add Google Maps in your blog.

Euhm.. in the documentation you need to give the link a title of googlemaps, in the screenshot it’s googlemap, but both don’t work..
Just use the iframe option googlemaps provides. No hassle at all.

Hi Amir, this didn’t work for me. I’m trying to embed a map in this post: http://purplefoodie.com/baking-in-bombay/
I tried your method when the plain copy-pasting of the iframe didn’t work..thanks for your help.
