Google Street View in India – Panoramio Photos Accepted

September 9, 2010 by Amit Bhawani

We have recently been tipped by someone who claimed that there are many vehicles like Qualis, Sumo etc seen around the roads in India which resemble the Google Street View vehicles and there are chances that Google is getting ready for this.

A Google Employee did mention that India would be a plan for the Street View service but they cannot share any of the plans as of now.

Google Employee Street View Answer

Apart from this Google Street View now also accepts the user submitted photos which were previously submitted using the Google owned service ‘Panoramio’. This would mean that Google would take the user uploaded Photos along with their own recording mapping data for displaying the same on maps.google.com. There are rumors that by 2011 second semester the Google Street View service in India would be available for the users for the most major cities.

Google Street View Mapping Vehicle India

The above photo was found at pagetraffic.com, which shows that the Google Vehicle is moving around in Maharashtra, but on some of most un-expected village area. Do send us more photos or information if you have any and don’t forget that you can Remove My House, Face, Car from Google Maps Street View.
