How to Block Someone in Google Talk

October 9, 2009 by Amit Bhawani

I have been using Gtalk from years and its my favourite Instant Messenger when compared to Yahoo Messenger because its neat, sleek, looks professional, simple and has no useless features like Chat Rooms, Buzz etc. But from the past few months there are people who keep adding me for getting Digg Votes or StumbleUpon Votes which seriously makes me hate them. This is because people first add on and the first message would something like – Can you Vote for me and blah blah which is one of the main reason i keep looking to block them. Here is a small post on how to complete this process.

There are options in Gmail which can make you Invisible from other friends and contacts but this is not useful in this case since we are just planning to block a single user from your total friends list and for this you need to click on the profile option which is under a small drop down arrow found on the user’s small profile box when mouse over is done.

Following this you will be shown with a small Dialog Box which is a final confirmation to Block your friend instantly after which you wont be able to send or receive messages from him/her.

Also in the future if you feel that you have blocked someone by mistake or if you need to UnBlock someone whom you had previously blocked then you need to go to the Settings of Google Talk Messeneger and then click on the Blocked option where in you will find a list of all the contacts which you had previously blocked. Now selected them one by one and click on the UnBlock button to add the contacts back to your contacts list.
