Backup of your important files and folders is a very important task because without a backup you are taking the maximum risk in your computing life. If someday you find that your Hard Disk Drive is crashed or else the Laptop is Stolen you are left with nothing because all the data which you had stored are gone and without a Online backup you cannot restore them. We had previously written a article on How to Auto Backup Data Online where we had recommended a Online Backup service called as ‘Mozy‘ which is available for free with 2Gb online space.
Once you have completed the Backup of all your selected important files and folders from your computer to the online account you can access them at the Mozy.com website under your account. You need to login to get access to your private account > Account Pages > Restore Files option you will find options to select the type of Restore you would like to proceed with. Better option would be restoring through the standalone version which is installed on your computer and selecting the restore option under this. Just open the MozyHome application and click on the ‘Restore Files…’ option.
You will be shown with a interface as shown below with 2 columns. The left section shows you the folders structures in a tree format along with the option to check any or all of these. Once you select any of the inner most folder you will be shown with the list of files stored under this specific folder.
Once you have selected the right files which were deleted from your computer, you need to click on the Restore button and the software will restore the files by downloading them from your backup to the original file location where it was previously located. If the file already exists on your computer, it would be renamed or overwritten based on your preferences.
A very simple and free way to recover all your important files and folders which were deleted from your computer.
Useful Tip…SkyDrive is an other option. It provides upto 25GB space.
