At first impression, it seems that this tablet is perfectly between Apple’s iPad and Motorola Xoom, as where iPad uses 1 GHz A4 Chip as the processor and Xoom’s dual core NVIDIA Tegra 2 1GHz processor, this hp touch pad uses the latest dual core 1.2GHz snapdragon processor which is sure to give a tough fight to Motorola Xoom.
Features & Specifications:
Starting from the display, HP Touch Pad comes with a 9.7-inch XGA capacitive, multi touch capability screen with a vibrant 18-bit color and 1024×768 resolution displays and as usual carries a virtual keyboard. If we talk of other standard features, this one comes with a front camera of 1.3 MP camera which can be used for video calling, Adobe flash support, A GPS, Wi Fi 802.11 with b g n support, Blue tooth with Enhanced data rate of 2.1 with A2DP stereo bluetooth support. This tablet also comes with many sensors like Light sensor, compass, gyroscope and accelerometer.
With bold virtual keyboard which comes with clear and equidistant spaced keys, typing experience on the HP touch pad will be truly a handful experience.
If we talk of communication, then this tablet comes with integrated IM and SMS support along with Microsoft’s Exchange Email with direct push mail technology from Yahoo, AoL, Hotmail and Gmail. Adding to the list of communication, this tablet also comes pumped with social gaming apps like facebook and also comes with one of the most popular game of Angry Bird.
One thing which pleased me a lot that, this one comes with an impressive and proprietary Touchstone technology with which you can easily share a URL with your Pre by simply tapping these together so that you don’t miss a text message or a phone call on your touch Pad.
Multimedia, Memory and Battery:
This tablet supports wide range of audio and video formats ranging from MP3, aac to MPEG-4 etc and also houses a 3.5mm jack so that you can make use of any standard headset and also with internal set of stereo speakers and proprietary beats audio, listening to music will be a great experience. Talking of memory, this one comes with two choices, one is 16 GB and other is 32 GB. Last but not the least, this one comes with a 6300 mAh battery and also comes with micro USB port.
Negatives:
Adding to the list of negatives, this tablet doesn’t come with a camera, LED Flash, Video recording, Memory Slot, a dedicated app store and also this one comes with an extra thickness, hp touch pad comes with a thickness of 13.7mm compared to Apple iPad’s 13.4mm and Motorola Xoom’s 12.9 mm.
Accessories:
Just like energizer’s charging pad, hp touch tablet too can be charged just like this, all you need to buy is an additional accessory which is called as “touchstone”, other accessories includes an external keyboard and a case.
On the design part i like Ipad more…and about the new webOs which Hp got from Palm i’m not so sure it will do such a good job. The last thing to keep in mind is the price, i do not think it would be fair to be the same as for the iPad. I am considering buying a TouchPad but not if the price is as high as for iPad. It would be a smarter choice to choose Apple with has a lot more experince on the tablet market.
