Hyundai i20 Export Standards Car Launch Specifications

March 19, 2008 by Amit Bhawani 34 Comments

HMIL is now going to launch a better version of Hyundai i10 car which would be specially designed for international customers because HMIL plans to export their cars with a price range of 5-6 lakhs ie around 15000 USD. The i20 model would be equipped with a automatic gear box for better driving standards and the manufacturing would be done at chennai.

The Hyundai i20 is said to have 3 doors which will be released after the 5door version launch. The new model is going to have bigger inner space and a tougher engine with international standards. With the 1.2-litre petrol engine the powerful vehicle to expected to be launched by 2008 end or early 2009.

Also by the end of 2008 hyundai motors would launch a diesel version of Hyundai i10 car, because right now only the petrol version is available in India. The new car aimed at B segment is codenamed as PB and will be targetting a position above Hyundai Getz.

Hyundai is producing all these new models in India itself hence indians have a benefit of buying these export level cars. The i20 will be having a better quality plastic and comfortable seating and interiors with more room space for luggage. The launch will be joined with other car brands launched at the same time which includes Honda jazz, Skoda Fabia and Volkswagen polo.

Well the i20 is expected to be out by the end of this year. Quite alot of information on the i20 has been posted by me. I think Hyundai will get the car here asap, since they just started exporting it to Europe.

Well you are saying that by the end of this year, but what I have seen is that manufacturers usually delay the launch to new year as the customer would not like to buy the old model ( year wise) just for few days,

Also do you have any ideas if the lauch of manual and Automatic would be together or first they will launch the manual and after couple of moths would go for automatic , As i am in the final stage of buying, so thats why need a rush answer,

    I have two otions avaialble

    1) GO FOR i 10 AUOTMATIC, ( LESS BOOT SOPACE , THAT ONLY THE DISADVANTAGE FOR ME) NOW.

    2) WAIT FOR END OF THIS YEAR OR PROBABLY NEW YEAR AND THEN BUY i 20 IF THE AUTOMATIC WILL BE LAUNCHED TOGETHER WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION.

    pLS ADVISE.

I have a Maruti Zen. But now I want to change it with a more biger hatchback. I have applied for a loan from my offie & it has approved. At first I think to buy Hyundai Getz- for its large inner space, but its milage is very less. Now in one of the website I read that Hyundai new car i20 will replace Getz in space & also gives more milage & it comprises Euro V standards. So please confirm me about that fact and also please say about its launch in India!

Debdeep Dutta you heard right, the Getz is being faced out and the i20 will replace it. It will be Euro V compliant and will give as much FE as the Getz.

    Hey guys,
everyone has been speculating the I 20 launch in Jan 2009, Can anyone confirm the source from where it has been said,I have already researched with the dealer amnd head office in delhi, the Zist What i came to know is this,
Hyundai doesnt have the strategy of disclosing the launch date, but One of the sales man ( who is my friend ) told me the following facts,
befor launch of any vehicle Hyundai usually have Sales training and service technician training, The service group usualy receives the schedule of training 1.5 months prior to launchm but they havent recd anything as of yet, so if anyone is saying Jan 09, I would like to request to please tell the source of the information.

I am also being told that After Dec 5 th there would be huge discounts on Hyundai cars just to year closing, so in a dialemma to go fo I 10 ( buy in last week and then get it registered on Jan 1 st ) or wait for I 20 , which obviously far far better than I 10.

In the last month of the year, every manufacturer give good discounts. The i20 will be launching in Jan and Hyundai never disclose the launch dates. The launch dates are confirmed by Autocar.

Saw the i20 last year (3 days back), liked it, will probably go in today and pick one up.

Two basic models – Magna / Asta (price 5.5 lacs / 6.5 lacs roughly). Asta has additional features like larger wheels, Air Bags, ABS locking. Makes better sense if you are going to use it for long distance travel. If planning a second car for in-city drive, Magna may be the better value-for-money.

    Hi!

Interested to know, is the launch of Dsl version of i20 confirmed for March,09 or next year? Also b/w Swift DSL & i20 Dsl(to be launched), which car should i purchase? as I have lot KMS to drive in a given month.

A/T version, are they successful in Indian scenario or should I go for manual? No doubt sheer driving pleasure is with manual version but tiered of changing gears & pressing the clutch.
