15 Lakhs high school students are going to attempt their IT practical exams via a specially developed open source software based on Ubuntu which is a version of linux. This software is named as Exam CD[IT@School GNU/Linux version 3.0] and has been distributed to 2832 government aided and unaided schools. IT@School has sucessfully trained around 70,000 faculties on the usage of this software by the Society for the promotion of Alternative computing and employment.

The software is very easy to use and is it par with other similar competitive exam/tests. Evaluators have options of comparing group students scores with other batches and record them. Since, this is a new kind of exam for students there are offered a special pattern where in they just need to answer 1 question from the total 2 questions in each category/section. The Govt of kerala is also developing “Phoenix” – a integrated micro-controller device that integrates the physics experiments hardware to a PC which can help the students to understand the concepts of electrocity, magnetism, electromagnetic induction in a more practical way with a better understanding experiance.
