i have iphone 3gs with 3.1.2 and 5.11.07 and hae jailbroken with blackra1n. now i want to upgrade to ios 4.0.1 and jailbreak it. so i have followed ur procedure on the same 3.1.2 and opened the website but it went to recovery mode and stopped there only. so i have jailbroken it again with blackra1n. so pls help me wht to do.

I have tried this, it does work. It took me a while to work out how you force quite safari from this description. If anyone is wondering you do it in the multitask mode and you hold you finger over the app icon. It is the same as removing an app from the main screen
Once you have force quite safari, turn on your wifi. This is obvious as you need the internet to do this.

hi amit, i tried d procedure coupla time to unlock…but finding it really difficult.
am using airtel…..its even showing airtel logo wid full network bars. i can even receive calls. but its asking me to connect to itunes screen and not letting me enter in OS. i mean d emergency call slide is flashing.
seems to be weired error….but u r d boss……..plz suggest something.
BTW i tried unlocking in airplanemode,legid sim, even no sim status.

I did try out the same on Airtel, received 3 calls normally without any issues and seems like there is no problem at my end. I would rather say go for a reboot, followed by completing the procedure of unlocking again. If nothing works, better upgrade or restore using the official firmware links, then jailbreak and unlock the device again.

jfi……is this spirit’s new jailbreak?……cause my mate has 3gs 3.1.3 jailbroken nd unlocked(spirit/ultrasn0w) respectively. wat if my mate upgrades to 4.0.1 or 4.0 firmware…nd usejailbreakme procedures?(just not sure, cause many of d jailbreaks doesnt support previous SPIRIT jailbreaks on older firmware.)
am still downloading 4.0.1..slow internet.
The spirit one is completely gone now because this Jailbreak works on 4.0.1 followed by unlocking using ultrasnow https://www.amitbhawani.com/blog/how-to-unlock-iphone-3g-3gs-on-ios-4-0-1-after-jailbreak/ You need to upgrade first to 4.0.1 and then use the jailbreakme procedure.

Worked like a piece of cake on my 3gs 4.0.1! Ive been dealing with so many jailbreak procedures… from quickpwn to spirit, but this one just amazed me completely! its easy…u need to connect ur iphone to wireless internet….go to safari and type jailbreakme.com
this is only possible if u have access to ur upgraded os.

Thats the problem. If we are stuck at “Emergency Calls only” screen which says “Connect to iTunes” to activate the phone, we cannot use safari or any other application (we cannot use the phone at all).
Today I will try Phonebook card which can activate without original SIM. Once the phone is activated, then we can follow this article (hopefully this works).
It worked like a charm. In fact after upgrading there is no emergency call screen (as i expected). I just opened safari and everything else is smooth.
Amit ji, I liked your blogs but it will be good if you can automate the moderation process (by filtering some keywords automatically), so that the replies and information passes quickly to others.

Hey Amit…. wonderful blog. Dude I need some help from your end. I have recently bought iPhone 3G which is already jail broken and unlocked, using it with Vodafone.
I am looking to upgrade it to iOS 4.1 firmware in order to have Multitasking and other tempting features of iOS 4.
My problem is that I am fairly new to jail-breaking and unlocking as I just bought my first iPhone, also currently don’t have the access to wifi.
Could you please advice the best way to update and then unlock & jail break?

Sounds good. However I dont the access to wifi, also after updating to iOS4.1 its not allowing me to open the safari browser to access jailbreakme?
pls suggest or is there any custom made ios4.1 firmware available to be downloaded (which does not require jail-breaking & unlocking)??

My problem is solved….simple solution!!! I restored to factory settings….den upgraded to 4.0.1…and jailbroke it again…ultrasnow worked like a charm.
Ppl here only restore it IF u have legitimate sim(d sim on wich ur fone is locked)…

I have a 3gs model new bootrom os version 3.1.3. I recently jailbroke using jailbreakme.com with 3.1.3 version. Today i updated to 4.0.1 and tried jailbreaking. When i slide to jailbreak it dowloads and once the download is completed the home screen appears.I tried many times but its just the same. Pls help. Will downgrading to 3.1.3 and jailbreak work again?
