LG KE970 Mobile Phone Review

January 22, 2009 by Tony Stark

LG KE970LG is increasing the number of releases under the Black Label Series after the success of the Chocolate phone, the latest is the all mirror, all metallic new shine label, of which the KE970 is part off. From afar the KE970 looks nothing like a phone; the design is so unique that you can’t even see the screen when the screen is not lit. The KE970 is a slim phone that measures 99.8mm x 50.6mm x 13.8mm, the phone is solidly built but is slightly heavy, the phone weighs 199g.

The KE970 is a strong solid phone made from real stainless steel, the key pad features a thumb wheel for vertical scrolling, the thumb wheel also functions as the enter button when pressed inwards, the phone does not have any touch sensitive buttons. The headphone, power, camera shutter, music shortcut, and volume control keys situated on the right side of the phone. On the back of the phone you will find the camera module which comes with a LED flash and tiny mirror for placing small portrait photos.

On the multimedia side the LG KE970 excels with its 2.2” 262K color QVGA resolution display, which produces reasonably good color reproduction and the brightness is quite good, however it is a bit difficult to use under sunlight mainly because of the reflective surface under the screen.

The KE970 reproduces ringtones excellently, with the ringtones coming out of the ear piece, the volume on the phone is sufficient enough although it sounds a bit coarse even when you are playing the clearest MIDI tones at the phones maximum volume. The phone has a 64-voice polyphonic chip which is meant to make AAC and MP3 files sound good. The music players can’t be used in the background so if you wanted to do anything else with the phone you would have to switch off the music.

The KE970 has one of the best cameras available on mobile phones, it has a 2 megapixel camera, with a shutter button, and the auto lens is quite fast. The phones view finder is very easy to use and the thumb wheel enables you to access different functions on the menu, for example you can set the picture quality, preset white balance modes.

The phones interface is almost similar to other LG interfaces, the scrolling is smooth and easy to use, and the screen is full of animations which have been added to make the screen much livelier.
