LG KG920 Mobile Phone Review

January 24, 2009 by Amit Bhawani

LG KG920The LG KG920 is a camera phone that sits in a league of its own because the major feature that sticks to your mind about the phone is its 5 megapixel camera, the only other contenders with the KG920 are the Nokia N73, and the Sony Ericsson K800i. The KG920 is however not LG Electronics first 5 megapixel camera phone, the first being the SV550 which it released in 2005. the KG920 has a odd design for a phone, the phone is reasonably sized it measures 108mm x 50mm x 18mm which is quite small for the amount of features that are crammed into this machine and compared to other camera phones around it is quite small.

The KG920 is made up of two parts joined by a rotating hinge the top half of the phone consists of the screen on the front and the battery on the back, the bottom half consists of the keypad on the front and a camera module on the back the camera is directly behind the keypad as opposed to it being at the edge of the device as with other camera phones. The rotation device enables you to take self portraits since you can rotate the phone through 180 degrees, so when you take self portraits the screen and the camera will be facing the same direction. The camera is supported by a Xenon flash which makes the KG920 perfect for taking pictures in dark conditions.

The KG920s keypad is a bit complicated as it is a myriad of buttons that you won’t normally find on a phone; there are three soft keys at the top of the numeric keypad. The keypad is more suitable and favorable to right handed people, however it does present a lot of problems for example the keys are much too small and make it difficult to navigate through the phone with ease, the keys are also hard to press.

KG920 has a 2inch 256k color TFT LCD display, which produces a very right and clear image, which even provides excellent picture under direct sunlight, however for a camera phone you would wish it could be a bit bigger. The phone only has 8MB of internal memory space this means that you will have make use of a miniSD slot. The phone has a 64 voice polyphonic effect that means you get to listen to original sounding music the phones MP3 player supports formats such as WMA, AAC+, AAC, AMR, MIDI, M4A, WAV, and MMF.
