A lot of publishers from India and other Asian countries are puzzled on whether they can use AdSense Ads on new sites or not. Recently Google disabled a massive number of AdSense accounts from India and Pakistan which adds more to the confusion. To make it worse, Google does not mention anything in their policies for India about the minimum age requirement for blogs and websites to use AdSense Ads on the websites.
Requirement to get AdSense application approved
The AdSense approval depends a lot on the reviewer and the impression he get on the applicant and the site/blog. Google has a lot of published and unpublished rules for approval of an AdSene application, but those rules are flexible enough for the reviewer to come to his own on conclusion whether to approve or not.
There is no rule that says the blog has to have X number of visitors, Y number of pages views and so on. If you do a quick Google search, you can find a lot of confusion on the web defining the minimum number of page views and visitors a website must have to get AdSense application approved. Google looks at the quality of the content (uniqueness, well written and so on) and the nature of the website. If you have a website filled with scripts, ads, and other non-content stuff, you probably will fail to impress the reviewer. A clean site with easy navigation structure is sure to win.
If you are new to AdSense and want to apply for AdSense for your new website, I strongly suggest few things:
1. Wait several months until you have a lot of high quality articles. 6 months to 1 year is not a long wait for a life time AdSense account.
2. Wait until you have a lot of high quality article that really add value to the web. Re posting specification of latest gadgets is not really considered as high value content by Google. Rather, research on your topic of interest. If you are writing about gadgets, go to shops and take pictures comparing it with other similar products. Keep it side by side with other products and prepare comparison reports. If you are writing about tourist places, visit the place yourself and take pictures. If you are simply referring to another website and prepare an article in your own words, it is not going to be helpful.
3. Do not use a lot of scripts, ads and fancy images on your website. Visitor count, Feedburner subscriber count, List of your friends’ website etc all can wait until you get established and have your own AdSense account. (I do not mean you can have all unwanted stuff after you get the AdSense).
5. Keep the website clean and make it easy to navigate. Focus on the content. Make it easy for readers to reach various sections of the website. Provide a clean menu with limited links to your core categories.
Should a website or blog wait 6 months before using or applying for AdSense?
Google does not talk about the 6-months requirement anywhere in the policies. However, one of the help topics vaguely mention that publishers from India and China should wait for 6-months before they can apply [or, use ?] AdSense. There is no definite answer on which countries fall under this category. There is strong demand from top AdSense community to enforce this rule for all countries, which make perfect sense. No website can earn much traffic before it reach 6-months life in the web and the AdSense is not going to bring any reward for them in the site without traffic. So, why can’t webmasters wait for 6 months? Also, strictly enforcing the 6 months requirement will turn away a huge number of fraud applicants. Of course this will affect few big publishers who start new business, change domain name etc, but they always have the option to reach their AdSense account managers and get special approval. Google is not very clear on whether existing AdSense accounts can be used on new sites. I have used my AdSense on my new sites without knowing the new requirement but did not have any problems, but my friends have lost their AdSense accounts for doing the same. So, if you create a new site, just wait patiently for 6 months before you use AdSense there. After having burnt my fingers, I usually wait until my new site reach 6 months + minimum 1000 page views per day before I use my AdSense account on it.

Nice piece of information for the Adsense aspirants and as well as the existing publishers.
Talking about my personal experience , when i got my adsense approved , it was my 6 months old Blogspot blog but still it was not having 1000 views per day. So page-views may not be included in the criteria.

Mujhe ek aur baat janna hai ki, it is necessary to write at least one post everyday for the application of adsence
Kundan Singh says
Its not a hard and fast rule to write one article/day. It all depends on quality of content (even may be weekly) and user satisfaction (more quality more visitors).
Although writing on regular basis increase visitors interest.
Kundan Singh says
Although its not officially stated but my experience says that Google is (may be was ) little easier approving for Blogpsot blogs than self hosted web-blogs.
Manish Garg says
There is no need to wait 6 months for adsense approval (as i got approval within 1 month with blogspot domain) , but also it is of no use if u don’t have traffic.

In my view there are no any rule to have certain time, The only thing is you should’t do any fraud thing, like clicking your own ads, tell other to do so, copying others content, doing restricted things and so on. My suggestion is go through the adsense policy.
dotcompals says
If you are confident about your website and if it is a legit one, go and apply on the first day itself. Good is clear cut on its policies and if your website is worth, you will get approved.
SatishKumar says
It is the quality of contents that matters and if a person has many quality self written unique articles in his website [remember – those should be much helpful to the target audience], he is sure to get his Adsense approved within 6 months. As observed in this article, it depends upon the reviewer at Google to do the same.
I have few friends who have got Adsense approval within few hours of application because of their quality content in the blog / website.
Arun says
Adsense is pretty strict nowdays, a site must have atleast 6 months online and be having good content.

Sure waiting 6 months to 1 year is best option for new website or blogger. In this time bloggers should concentrate to develop valuable content.

Amit,
It’s always been about quality content. Anybody who thought they could slap a few pages of content on a website and think they can make money is going to get disappointed.
What you said makes perfect sense. It’s best until your blog gets enough high-quality content, gets traffic on a regular basis, gets some in bound links and starts to pull in a little bit of a following.
But then, you know what?
When a blog gets to this stage, suddenly Adsense doesn’t make any more sense unless it’s a niche we don’t care about or unless an internet marketer decides that adsense is the way to go.
By the time a blog gets here, it makes more sense to do email marketing. Build a list and do emails instead of working all for a year, attracting 1000s of visits per month/day and then letting visitors click on a few ad sense links and get away is stupidity.
Once you build a list of followers, all you need to do is to send emails at a set frequency. They will be customers for life. You can sell your products ( or affiliate products) again and again which will surpass income from ad sense any day.
AkashArora says
I am new blogger. Many of my friends told me that time is not a matter if you are getting good number of visitors on your blog.

I have also created my online blog for providing online information and tutorials for technology based on websites, SEO and webmaster tools, tips and techniques. However, I still haven’t applied for my website in google adsense, and I have approximately (may be more or less) 27 posts. Any opinion for my website would be great.
Thanks.
Debajyoti Banerjee says
Nice post Amit. For Adsense approval, new blogger/site owners must wait 6-8 months before applying for adsense and in that time they should fully concentrate building the site, keeping excellent user experience in mind. Quality of content is very important. Read Google’s webmaster guidelines. Well researched, informative, fresh and unique article is a must. Side by side comes all the hard work of promoting the site (Don’t over-optimize or push too hard). Be pro-active and help your community. After certain time ask yourself” Am I providing values to my users? to my site?” If you yourself feel confident, then only apply. Google is now very strict giving new approval for adsense and only excellent quality sites get quick approval. If you are greedy for some quick earning without thinking about your user, you are gone. All the best for all my newbie friends.

My site is now 6 months old..i m still waiting to apply as I want a decent traffic on a per day average so that i can make money via adsense once i get it…i dont think there is a point in having an ad sense account without adequate traffic. i am also working on my PR side by side so that once i get the ad sense, I start making money from day 1.
pankaj kumar says
As you said “Google is not very clear on whether existing AdSense accounts can be used on new sites.”, i think you need to update this post, if you go to the control panel of your adsense account it is clearly mentioned that the ads code can be placed on any site, you just need to authenticate that website in your adsense aacount otherwise that won’t be monetized. and ya it’s true it can be dengerous if your site doesn’t meet their policy, you can lost your adsense account.
