If cost is the main factor which is making you from Ordering a Apple iPad which starts from 499$ for the basic version, then take a look at the Notion Ink Adam Tablet which is quite better because of some features and is going to be launched in some 300-400$ price range, a price which anyone can afford who wants a powerful tablet. Here is a Demo of the same in the form of a video, while the Adam Tablet is not yet launched and is in the final stages. The only disappointment with this product is that it wont be backed with the 1,50,000 Apps which Apple iPad would offer you.
It is not only the number of supported applications that would stop me from buying this product, but there are a host of other issues. For example, after sales support is one serious consideration when someone buys a product like this. Can Adam offer a similar kind of after sales support, as Apple does? After all, you get what you pay for, so Adam being cheaper by a hundred odd dollars or so, does not necessarily make it a good value for money. Also, Apple is Apple after all – a highly respected brand name, so one expects to pay a premium, and dare I say, quite happily so. Remember, Apple never competes on the price front. Needless to say, it is very tough to compete against Apple – even the Japanese are finding it so tough to compete – on something that has been traditionally their forte – the consumer electronic items. But nevertheless, good luck to Adam.
As for apps as the Tablet is Based on Android, all the Android Apps will wor on the Device. 🙂
Apple iPad doesn’t have just the Adam now as the competitor but there are many others in the list that are trying to give a tough fight to the iPad, including the Samsung Galaxy tab, and Viewpad 7 from Viewsonic. But the difference is the screen size too, where the Adam is of the same screen size as of the iPad but the tab and Viewpad are quite smaller with just 7-inch screens. All of them having the different operating systems. Android and the iOS have a great name already, let’s see what Adam has in.
