Question : Hey Amit, we run a web designing firm and most of our team are iPhone users and have been your useful tips on Apple related products. We would like to know if its possible to re-download a application from the iTunes App Store which was downloaded long back and deleted from the device. Since, we have deleted the app from the device and itunes there is no backup available when we sync the device, hence will we have to pay again for the application or can we get it for free?
Answer : Apple does allow you to re download a App which was earlier purchased or downloaded for free onto your device. This is allowed because there are chances you would have deleted the same by mistake or may have upgraded the iPhone to the latest handset model. You can easily download the app which was earlier purchased through the same iTunes account on file. If you would like to not take any risks in redownloading the same, its better to first remove the payment information or the credit card details on the account before proceeding.
- Next you need to launch the iTunes application and then click on the iTuns Store link.
- Login to your iTunes account with which you had earlier downloaded the app previously.
- Use the search box and find the App from the App Store.
- Click on the ‘Buy App’ button
Next click on the buy button and you would be asked with the following message which asks you to confirm if you would like to re-download a app which was purchased earlier. ‘You have already purchased this item’, buy it has not been downloaded. To download it, select check for Available Downloads from the Store menu.
