Root & UnRoot Samsung Galaxy S i9000 in One Click

Rooting an Android Phone can allow you to install more applications which are not available in the Android Market and would also allow you to enjoy many more features. In this article we are going to Root the new Samsung Galaxy S SmartPhone with just 5 minutes of work. Instead of trying out different options like setting up different software’s, restarting the device, shutdowns and then getting the phone into Recovery Mode, this simple application is get all your job done in a single click.

Compatible with Samsung Galaxy S i9000 :

  • Android 2.1 Eclair
  • Android 2.2 Froyo

To get started you will have to download the following software’s and files to your computer to make sure that it can be executed easily.

  • Dot Net Framework Version 4 – Download Link
  • One Click Root File – Download Link
  • Samsung Galaxy S i9000 Drivers for Windows 32bit & 64bit.

To get started install the Dot Net Framework on your Windows based computer and then also download the i9000 Drivers for your computer based on the configuration.

  • In your Device you will have to Enable the ‘USB Debugging mode’ which is located at Menu > Settings > Applications > USB Debugging. You will be shown with a warning which says ‘USB debugging is intended for development purposes only. It can be used to copy data between your computer and your device, install applications on your device without notification, and read log data. Click on OK.
  • Next Connect your device with the computer and close the Kies Software if it autoruns when the device is found. The computer would automatically find and install the drivers for this device.
  • Now you will have to run the One Click Root file which was downloaded and extracted earlier which will display the following options.

  • If you are on Android 2.1 Eclair then you will have to select the One-Click Root 2.1 option and if the device is on the updated Android 2.2 Froyo then its suggested that you select the One-Click Root 2.2 option. Once you select the correct option you will be shown a few instructions.
  • The device would be having some confusing codes displayed on the screen and a Command Prompt would You will be displayed with the status of the rooting. Here in the update.zip file would be automatically transferred to the device’s Internal Memory Card and daemon would be started.

  • Here the device is in Recovery Mode and at this time you can easily update it with the file which was previously transferred. Next on the device you will find that its restarted and you will get a few On screen options out of which you will have to select the second option of updating the device from the SD Card hosted file. This will take a few seconds of wait following which the device will again restart and its Rooted.

One of the reason why we Rooted the Android Device was to take Screenshots on Samsung Galaxy S i9000 & Samsung Wave. Finally if you want to unroot your device, then you will have to perform all the steps listed above and select the UnRoot option.

    This sounds to be a simple and easy way of Rooting. I have galaxy Spica. Do you have a similar and simpler way of Rooting for my device?

    When you root, can you still do the 2.2 update with Kies when it comes out?

    I have to admit, that I cannot see the point in the application. Why not simply:
    1. Download update.zip onto /sd. (Why not download over 3G network onto the ‘phone? Its only 2.1Mb!)
    2. Power off the phone, and reboot holding the Volume Up & Home plus the power button.
    3. Once in recovery mode, navigate to apply sdcard:update.zip using the volume buttons & use the power button to select.

    Finished! Far easier than using the USB.

    when I try to do it my phone says:E:signature verification failed Installation aborted.
    i’m running froyo 2.2 what did I do wrong?

    after this the device is rooted , reboot your device.

    Download RyanZA’s OCLF 2.0 in the app market , open it and

    click EXT2 and after that One Click Lag Fix 2.2+

    All DONE!!
