Problem : We have a Windows Live Hotmail account which can be accessed at live.com but the main problem is that we have been using the Gmail service because of its combined features following which we can connect to different web services. Now the problem is that i want to forward all my live emails to the Gmail account and stay updated. Is it possible to automatically transfer all the live.com based emails to the Gmail Account without the need of any external software?
Solution : This seems to be a problem with many people, following which there have been many help desk requests on Transfer Live.com Hotmail Emails to Gmail Account Automatically. Windows live.com email service is not as user friendly as the Google Gmail service is because of which its quite hard to use the forwarding feature or any other features they offer. In this email we will show you a small trick using which you can easily setup the forwarding option for your email account. In order to get started you will have to make sure that you have the following services available.
1. Windows Live.com Account.
2. Google Apps for Custom Domains Account.
3. Gmail Account.
First you will have to login to your Microsoft Live.com account and then click on the options page. This can be found at the right side under the link ‘options’. Click on this and a drop down list would be displayed. Click on the ‘more options’ link.
Next under the ‘Hotmail Options’ you will find a option. Manage your account > Forward mail to another e-mail account. Click on this link which will display you the Email Forwarding option. This needs you to make sure that you login to your hotmail account atleast once in 270 days to ensure that your account is not deactivated which is a one of the live.com email services requirement.
Enter the email address which you would like to use for the domain forwarding. Make sure that this is a email which is registered under Google Apps for your own domain name, something like amit@amitbhawani.com.
You need to select the option of ‘Keep a copy of forwarded messages in your Windows Live Hotmail inbox.’ to ensure that you have a backup of all the emails with you. Once you have saved the option, the service is active and would start automatically forwarding all the emails you get in your hotmail account.
Next you will have to forward all the emails you receive in your Google Apps based Custom Domain Email Account to the normal Gmail account for which you will have to login to your Google Account > Settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP > Forward a copy of incoming mail to [gmail address]. Click on the save changes page and then check out your Gmail Account.
The above email is re-routed from Microsoft Hotmail to Google apps to Gmail account automatically and within seconds which means that there is no delay in forwarding your emails from different services.
