This is not a replacement for general purpose laptop. Ideally it is an replacement for your mobile. If you need Internet on the move with better browsing experience than go for it. Also u can edit and read ur docs.

However, A Full Blowing Linux would’ve been better than this Crippled Windows CE
Initially the company launched the trial ones with a Datawind version of linux which was similar to puppy linux but due to the wide prevalence of Windows in the Indian market, it was changed to Windows CE during the official launch. Even though crippled OS, it still makes a better market to promote in India.

Today i had a look of this laptop. Its main distributor Sunrise sent their executive for demo. Looks fine, decent browsing speed. They were using bsnl gsm sim. They said that browsing speed will be much better on cdma network. Anyway i be purchasing this laptop and will keep you updated.

You can not download musics, videos and other stuffs using its subscribed internet and its in-built ubi browser. You can not even watch youtube videos. The downloading and video streaming is possible only when you use other WiFi networks and Firefox browser. It is a big big disadvantage of this product. What is the meaning of unlimited internet without provision for downloading files or streaming videos and musics?

Compare this to a DELL or a HP or An Acer Mini Netbooks which cost about US $ 250, for 1 GB DDR2 RAM, 160 GB HDD, Windows XP Home preloaded, Webcam, WiFi etc. Any day, I would spend $80 more and get one of these well-known brands than the ubisurfer.

I am not sure if I want to buy one of these for Rs 8000/- (US $180). Because, for US $ 250, I can get a FULL-FLEDGED netbook (such as a DELL Mini, Acer One, or HP Mini) with 1 GB DDR2 RAM, 160 GB HDD, Wi-Fi, Webcam, preloaded Windows XP etc.
Therefore, this UBSurfer Netbook DOES NOT make any sense to buy, unless someone has $180 TO THROW AWAY!! 🙂
how can use the LAN connectivity in ubisurfer? both the usb port are working or not?
i purchased datawind ubisurfer on 10.8.10. but services are not good.it is not working for last 10 days. company dealer are only intersted in selling ,not in service.it is disappointing
My sympathies to those who have bought this Ubisurfer. Just looking at its features, its functions, one can EASILY figure out that this is a piece of junk. The Ubisurfer costs US $180-200 at Rs 8000 to 10000/-
I just bought an Asus Mini for US $230 that has 1 GB DDR2 RAM, Wireless connectivity (latest 802.11N), 160 Gb HDD, Windows XP home, a built-in Webcam, a 10.1″ WSVGA screen etc. All this for US $30-50 more than the Ubisurfer !! We can possibly buy a similar system for Rs 13-15000 in India.
I think the makers of Ubisurfer should convince Mr. Kalmadi to get these for the CWG at possibly Rs 1 Lakh per piece for a 45-day rental 🙂
Datawind Ubisurfer is a new laptop company in India. But in UK it is a very best-known netbook brand with superb customer service. I trust they will render the same function here in India as well.
There are some things are not still clear. In Particular the buyers are interested about its unlimited Internet plan by paying Rs-99/month. There is no clear details about this on their web site. Let us wait and see about their progress in India. This is a good product for that price in India.

The device is very pricey when we check the small specs i.e. the 1GB of data and just 128MB of RAM. That shouldn’t be at all enough to run the Windows Office applications like the Word, Powerpoint and Excel. And moreover, there is no option to modify the specs and replace the RAM with a higher one.
i want to buy it but purely for offline pupose to read word or adobe documents in that condition is it a good buy???pls reply!!!!

Rs.7999/- is a high price for this product. It available for less than Rs.4500/-. Check on ebay or other online shopping sites. Remember, this is not a laptop or a Notebook. This is just a Netbook. This OS is WIN CE6.0 which is good for kids. It is extremely difficult to download any softwares. At home, you will need to purchase a router. The net does not connect automatically by itself. The primary internet connectivity is the WiFi. You will have to download Opera Mini as Internet Explorer has lot of glitches.
