Unlocked Apple iPhone in India Rumours Just Increase

June 24, 2008 by Amit Bhawani

Nokia Mobiles has been the number #1 seller in India but they yet dont see Apple as their competitor because there are very few chances of Apple iPhone being launched in India seeing the current position. There are regular updates on the web saying that either Vodafone would being in legal iphones or Bharti Airtel has started booking for these iPhones. There are no official news yet from the Apple’s side and we are still waiting for the legal version as soon as possible. The Unlocked iphones are already being sold in the offline and online markets from around a year in a price range of around 20k Indian Rupees but because of the limited features.

The most recent news was that Apple has made a tie up with Bharti Airtel regarding a partnership to launch 3G version of iPhone in India around the end of this year and the customers can buy these handsets at any Airtel offices with the pricing and details of the product to be announced at the time of launch, but if you can recall there were speculations earlier last month that iPhone would be launched in India in June 2008, and even though the month is coming to an end we dont see any new updates on this. Is this another rumour created by Apple India to make sure that it creates a huge Buzz because their product is really launched in the market.

Apple iPhone India Launch

The product is said to be launched with iPhone 2.0 software and would be compatible to run most 3rd party apple iphone applications. If these calculations really go through, you guys can obviously expect how much ecommerce business can increase for the sale of Apple iPhone related Applications, iPhone Accessories, iPhone paid games, Wallpapers & More. Even though currently all these news seem to be rumours but by this year end iam sure the official news would come out and we can really own a Legal iPhone which would cost around 15k Rupees .iPhone is the phone without a keypad, 3.5″ display screen, 2Mp screen, wi-fi support for internet on mobile, Bluetooth & Edge technology. Lets really hope the rumoured launch date of 29th june comes out true and we can buy a legal iphone in India asap.

Its recommended for all the buyers to wait for some more days if you really want a better priced and original set, which is not unlocked using a software / hardware lock because these things matter a lot when you are really paying in for something. A Wait for some more days would be worth rather than getting a product which is not having any guarantee, nor has a bluetooth transfer facility to transfer the files and no option to even update/delete video files. Also no warranty means you cannot get it repaired at any authorized Apple stores in India. Another important problem with these unlocked versions is that you cannot upgrade their firmware version from 1.1.3 to 1.1.4, so its always better to wait for some more time.

Well., Nokia will get affected a lot especially in the PDA segment of the mobile phone market as Apple product is really cool and excellent and the iPhone prices also have dropped making it very comfortable for all to buy it

Never knew about the disadvantages of having a unlocked Iphone.. Also people would like to have Iphone 3G instead of normal Iphone version !! We have to wait and see people’s reaction towards the price 😐
