Worlds Richest Man is Mukesh Ambani from Reliance

October 29, 2007 by Amit Bhawani 47 Comments

I just read this from many other news source which mentioned that our indian business magnet has become the worlds richest man today ie October 29th 2007. Here are some source for the news –

Billionaire Mukesh Ambani today became the richest person in the world, surpassing American software czar Bill Gates, Mexican business tycoon Carlos Slim Helu and famous investment guru Warren Buffett, courtesy the bull run in the stock market.

Following a strong share price rally on in his three group companies, India’s most valued firm Reliance Industries, Reliance Petroleum and Reliance Industrial Infrastructure, the net worth of Mukesh Ambani rose to $63.2 billion (Rs 2,49,108 crore).

In comparison, the net worth of both Gates and Slim is estimated to be slightly lower at around $62.29 billion each, with Slim leading among the two by a narrow margin.

The five richest people in the world with their net worth

1. Mukesh Ambani ($63.2 billion)

2. Carlos Slim Helu ($62.2993 billion)

3. William (Bill) Gates ($62.29 billion)

4. Warren Buffett ($55.9 billion)

5. Lakshmi Mittal ($50.9 billion)

Warren Buffett, earlier the third richest in the world, also dropped one position with a net worth of about $56 billion.

Ambani’s wealth of about Rs 2,49,000 crore includes about Rs 2,10,000 crore from RIL (50.98% stake), Rs 37,500 crore from RPL (37.5%) and Rs 2,100 crore from RIIL (46.23%).

Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani has overtaken NRI steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal to become the richest Indian in the world, thanks to the unprecedented boom in the domestic stock market.

Ambani’s net worth has soared past 50 billion dollars, making him the first Indian and only the fourth person in the world to have a wealth higher than this amount. The RIL chief is now believed to be next only to software czar Bill Gates of the US, Mexican business baron Carlos Slim Helu and Warren Buffett, regarded as the world’s greatest investor.

Based on the closing share prices of various group companies such as RIL, Reliance Petroleum, IPCL and Reliance Industrial Infrastructure, Mukesh Ambani is estimated to hold shares worth 50.1 billion dollars (about Rs 2,00,000 crore) through promoter holdings in these companies.

The four companies together have a market value of Rs 4,09,325 crore (103 billion dollars).

He has already beaten all the top richies including lakshmi mittal and bill gates and at the same time his new house antilia‘s construction has already started now. Lets see if anyone can beat him in this year since i personally feel this #1 position wont be for long as the reliance stocks went high for today and iam in a feeling that they would again come down for a week’s time , due to which Carlos Slim Helu can come to the #1 position.

Anyway the news for today is finalised that Mukesh Ambani takes the #1 Richest Position.

Yeah!! Mr.Amit Patel you are absolutely right….its all because the sensex is makin records…not just the “reaching new highs” records..also hitting new lows even before you get the time to say, “Oh Crap!”
I believe it wont last more then three or four days…unless Mr.Ambani comes up with something to get his name engraved.

Well, the last list i posted on my blog (source being Forbes.com), Mukhesh Ambani was at number 5 in world’s richest billionaires.
Sensex and recent hikes must have played a big part on his accent to number 1.
We hope he stays there. If he does stay there till next year, then he would be the first person to break William III (Bill) Gates record of being world’s richest for 13 consecutive years. That will be another achievement for him.
    Good post Amit!

this represents the sign of the emergence of the indian economy. But do not forget india is still a third world developing country. And on 29th October even we can’t predict how many indians how many indians went to sleep with their empty stomach.
However The Time is still the most powerfull and The india has its own way and velocity to go.

    Hello,

Well here I would like to enlighten u guys a littler bit.

Mukesh Ambaini is not the world’s richest.

    It would take some time…
Actually the firgure of 63.2 billion was reached through wrong calculations termed as ‘double counting’.

While arriving at those figures the analysts took into account his share in Reliance Industries as well as Reliance Petro chemicals which is wrong as Reliance Petro Chem is an investment of Ril and it already is traken into account while taking Ril’s investment into consideration. So, the actual worth of Mukesh Ambani is somewhat about $50 billions …

Which means he is yet to reach the landmark but still is amongst world’s richest…
But the way stock prices of his company’s shares are soaring the day isnt far away…

Guys, wealth like this is just a BIG indication that the principal of “abundance” is being abused and needs to be brought back into balance. The balance between rich and poor – 2% have the same amount of money as the other 98%. Whats wrong with this picture? The entire money system is a base corruption of a value system! May the banks crash! Trade rules. Value for value rocks.
