Recently it has been all over the news that Indian currency id being counterfeited. Previously it was restricted to notes of higher denominations only like a 500 rupee bill. But nowadays such currency can be found in almost all denominations. Reports say that they are being smuggled in the country from outside to weaken the economic prowess of the country.<\/p>\n

Not all know the art of identifying a counterfeit note. Here is a simple follow up of how to identify a fake note.<\/p>\n

Check if the note is crisp and thin. The notes are made out of optical fiber paper which gives them this property. Besides the fake ones are made out of cheap bamboo paper which is comparatively thicker. A note that has been photo copied is fade in its appearance. Check for the water mark on the left side of the note. It will have an image of Mahatma Gandhi.<\/p>\n

\"Counterfeit<\/a><\/p>\n

See whether the notes are numbered. These numbers are regular and when seen against the U V light turn fluorescent. In fake notes they are irregular. The numbers will relatively be smaller in fake notes also. There will be a security band in the note which can be seen when held up against the light. The security band unlike the real notes are rough in a fake note.<\/p>\n

Check the intaglio on the denomination of 1000,500,100,50,10,20 etc. this enables the blind to understand what denominations the notes are. This will look bright if seen at an angle. The governor\u2019s sign and the seal of the Reserve Bank of India will be there on each note. The note will also have written on it \u2018Guaranteed by the Central Government\u2019 both in English and Hindi.<\/p>\n

These are a few tips to ensure that you don\u2019t get a fake note while transacting your important and day to day activities. But most importantly be on guard and be extremely cautious about the matter and try not to get yourself into trouble. Strangers might ask you to for a change for notes of higher denominations.
