This is a Performance based review of the Nokia Booklet 3G<\/a> following our Hands-On Review. Nothing special to talk about, except the Windows 7 operating system. One would love to use this new OS version of Windows, but with 1GB RAM the performance is slow when you try to work on multiple apps at once, or have a single app with large files in it. Anything can slow down the laptop. Reason behind this being the low-powered Intel Atom Z530 processor which concentrates more on saving the battery but not on better performance.<\/p>\n

Another hard-hit point, is that Nokia doesn’t allow adding up more RAM from your own, so keep in mind, you are limited to 1GB always. Nokia should have provided at least 2GB of RAM keeping Windows 7 in mind. Opening an app of Microsoft Office definitely takes time, and once you keep an app open in the background while working on the other, opening the former would again eat a couple seconds. So the Nokia Booklet 3G<\/a> for sure is slower than any latest netbook<\/a> launched, but on the other side has quite few good features to talk about. 3G as in the name, works well as reported by the users from U.S. and 3G isn’t available at many places in India, so nothing much to speak about. Battery, impressive life thanks to the 16-cell battery. Using the Wi-fi on, and brightness set to 50%, while writing this review and browsing the web it has used 45% battery in 4 hours. On average, the 9-hour battery life is a big strength for the booklet 3G.<\/p>\n

Nokia provides GPS for helping in finding the location, through the Ovi Maps widget on the desktop. Apart from that, the booklet comes with f-secure<\/a> trial version, and the Ovi suite is capable of syncing with any Nokia mobile you connect (tested with Nokia N85<\/a>). The functionality of single app at a time is good but as said, opening multiple apps would frustrate you.<\/p>\n

Conclusion:<\/strong> Not going totally against in the performance part, but Nokia should have considered launching at least a 2GB model, as Windows 7<\/a> with 120GB is not less, but the battery performance is superb. Keep the charger at home, take the booklet with you for half a day! Option to add a SIM card and use the 3G service is an added advantage. Pricing is another point of concern, where the same price can get you bigger netbooks<\/a> with higher specifications, but again you might have to compromise with the battery.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
