Along with these files there\u2019s also a file called Googleupdate.exe is installed without our consent, what it does is this continuously searches the servers of Google for the required updates. This exe file uses about 1.6 MB of the computer memory, it may not make any difference for high end computers which have GBs of computer memory but for lower end PCs this may be the biggest cause for slowing down your PC.<\/p>\n<p>Basically, Googleupdate.exe sends the periodic data time to time to the Google servers whenever it checks for updates. This data includes languages, unique ID number, operating system version, version number and several more such parameters which has the update details. Thankfully, disabling this update is not so difficult task and can be killed at any time whenever you feel that it is making your system speed slow.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.amitbhawani.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Google-Update-Service.png\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-17281\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.amitbhawani.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Google-Update-Service-300x37.png?resize=300%2C37\" alt=\"Google Update Service\" width=\"300\" height=\"37\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.amitbhawani.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Google-Update-Service.png?resize=300%2C37&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.amitbhawani.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Google-Update-Service.png?resize=150%2C18&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.amitbhawani.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Google-Update-Service.png?w=476&amp;ssl=1 476w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Generally, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amitbhawani.com\/blog\/how-to-remove-or-disable-google-sidebar-in-firefox-chrome\/\" target=\"_blank\">Google<\/a> Update process is added as a service at the time of first installation of any Google Product Software. For changing the default behavior of searching the updates, you can simply change the behavior by simply opening the services configuration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Procedure to turn off the Google Updater:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First you need to press <strong>Windows button<\/strong> from the keyboard along with <strong>R<\/strong> alphabet key.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.amitbhawani.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Windows-%2B-R.png\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-17282\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.amitbhawani.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Windows-%2B-R-300x158.png?resize=300%2C158\" alt=\"Windows + R\" width=\"300\" height=\"158\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.amitbhawani.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Windows-%2B-R.png?resize=300%2C158&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.amitbhawani.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Windows-%2B-R.png?resize=150%2C79&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.amitbhawani.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Windows-%2B-R.png?w=347&amp;ssl=1 347w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Now a pop up will be popping up where in in the text box, you need to enter <strong>services.msc <\/strong>and need to click on Ok to proceed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.amitbhawani.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Services.png\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-17284\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.amitbhawani.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Services-300x212.png?resize=300%2C212\" alt=\"Services\" width=\"300\" height=\"212\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.amitbhawani.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Services.png?resize=300%2C212&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.amitbhawani.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Services.png?resize=150%2C106&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.amitbhawani.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Services.png?w=638&amp;ssl=1 638w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After double-clicking on GoogleUpdate.exe the pop up will be opened up and change the properties of the services with the option to change the <strong>startup type<\/strong> from <strong>automatic<\/strong> to <strong>disabled<\/strong>. There you go, you have now successfully disabled the automatic Google updates option.
