Windows Phones are linked to your Windows Live accounts which means that all your data is automatically synced with the cloud and also with this you would never loose your mobile phone. The service is linked to the backend of Windows Live account and whenever you are connected to the Internet your current location through GPS check-in are sent to the cloud.<\/p>\n

This one works similar to the Apple iPhone where in you need to login to the Mobileme account and your current location details are tracked all the time. This facility is available on all the Windows Phones currently available in the market and you can easily find your misplaced or lost mobile phone by just connecting to the internet on your PC and checking out your account.<\/p>\n

To get started you need to visit the website windowsphone.live.com and login with the Windows Live ID with which you have registered your mobile phone or with the ID with which you have logged into your Windows Phone for the first time. This will ensure that all the phone detailed are already synched with your Live account.<\/p>\n

Next you will be shown with a page with the message of Find My Phone – Ring, lock, erase, or show your lost phone on a map.<\/p>\n

Next click on the ‘Find My Phone’ link and you would be redirected to a new page with different options. The browser would ask to install additional plugins like Windows Media Player 11 which is optional though.<\/p>\n

Click on the ‘Lock it’ option which would shown you a small window to enter a few details. Create a 4-digit password for unlocking your phone when you find it. You can also add an optional message. <\/p>\n

Message to display on locked screen (optional): Ring your phone at the same time so that people nearby will hear it. Once you enter any custom message you will have to click on the Lock button. <\/p>\n

You will get a message which says – ‘You need to set up your phone to allow us to find it. On your phone tap Settings > Find My Phone and then check Get results faster.’ <\/p>\n

One your Phone you need to set both the options to YES and then click on the ‘Lock it’ option again which will show the following progress.<\/p>\n

In order to find the current location of your Phone you need to click on the ‘Map it’ option which would take upto around 30 seconds in order to track down the location and the same would be shown to you. Along with this you can Ring the phone for one minute using a special ringtone even if its on silent or vibrate mode, following which on the screen the lost message or return note would be displayed and the password would be asked to enter in order to continue.<\/p>\n
