\"DTHDirect To Home industry is facing various problems and one of the big problem for them is multiple taxation issue and it caused them to hike price in channel packages and also introduce as much A-La-Carte packs to make base pack less costing. Recently BIG TV<\/a> and Dish TV first to increase their package rates and put the service taxes on customers to reduce tax burden. While Sun DTH already offers packages without tax addition so Customers need to pay tax separately.<\/p>\n

Tatasky<\/a> doesn\u2019t make any big changes but hike their sports pack for ESPN, Star Sports and Star Cricket. Digital TV is so far new in the business so not yet hike any charges or makes any changes but it\u2019s likely to be up in next 1-2 months too. Dish TV was the first player who made changes in their pack and revamp their older packages which was key things in Dish TV and put new packages with some channels changes and it makes some unfriendly changes for customers.<\/p>\n

Customers can continue with their old packs but they need to pay 12.36% taxes so they put service tax burden on customer too. They also started new packs too but customers are confused to take those packages as they can\u2019t be able to view Star One even they go with maximum packages and they need to pay 62 Rs for a single channel if they are Star One friends, similar for South Indian viewers too as they have to pay same price if they want to view Star Vijay.<\/p>\n

Reliance BIG TV DTH is also increase the price but doesn\u2019t make any changes in channel offering in particular pack. Although they drop packages price and add service tax for customer so they come out with good packages as they share some taxes and customer share some taxes. For an example, their starter pack 3 was costing Rs 175 before this price increase but after this increase customer is only pay 165 Rs + Taxes means tax is shared by Company and customers both.<\/p>\n

One key thing is BIG TV have all popular channels excluding NDTV Imagine in base pack 3 so customer is happy to see all channels in one pack. Source suggesting that Airtel may increase some price in packages from next 1-2 months, so overall customer is responsible to pay service tax to government. But operators are hoping some relief when they will meet governments on this issue.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
