A proxy server<\/a> is basically a computer system or an application program that acts as an in between for the requests made by clients that seek resources from other web servers. It is usually the client that connects to the proxy server which requests some service may be a file, a connection or a web page that is present in a different server. The proxy server would evaluate the request based on the rules set by the filters. For example it could be an IP address or a protocol. It has become common to block undesirable websites by the government of various countries. Social websites that blocked include Google news, eBay, orkut, yahoo messenger so on. But there are ways to bypass these filters and unblock websites<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This would help to hide their original IP from being detected. Users of the net make use of proxy websites for various reasons. Some of them use it to access the website they want to see that has been blocked on their system, may be that is blocked by their school, college or workplace. A Proxy website is usually the simplest and quick way to get access to banned websites. This is usually done with the help of the URL address that the proxy website will display. Usually https protocol is recommended as it is encrypted and is harder to block.<\/p>\n

Making use of proxy websites<\/a> has several advantages. It helps the website visitor to view the webpage anonymously and hence their own privacy is protected. It also helps in filtering of softwares from limiting the access to blocked websites. These filtering though it helps to block the unwanted websites at the same time it also blocks the access to some important website that is needed for research in colleges and workplaces. The problem being most of these filtering softwares fail to clearly classify the websites.
