There are a very limited number of known DSL[Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) technology] Broadband Service Providers in India who provide data based and time based broadband servies. Here are some review and ratings of each of these internet providers.

BSNL Broadband : This connection is offered with the bsnl landlines service which are post paid services and you need to pay a advance amount to book a land line telephone[Bphone] and then apply for a bsnl broadband connection which could be either a home connection (or) a business connection , since both of these have different pricing and package usage facilities like single user in case of home connection and multi user feature in case of business connection, and the download of bsnl is normally considered as the lowest of all the broadband networks since the connection is via underground cables. The packages start from 250Rs/month with speeds ranging from 256kbps to 2mbps and a maximum download limit of 1Gb. This service is being provided on existing copper wire infrastructure. In addition to the High Speed Internet Service being provided through this technology, other services such as VPN, Multicasting, Video Conferencing, Video-on-Demand, Broadcast application etc will also be added shortly.
Airtel Broadband : Airtel broadband connection is offered via landline handsets which comes with both prepaid and post paid schemes and you need to apply for both at the same time, with the packages offering free call facility with the broadband connections. The starter packages from airtel come at 444Rs/month for 256kbps speed and 25 hours monthly browsing time.

MTNL Broadband : TriBand – MTNL[Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited] ‘always-on’ data connection , which offers High speed data download for Broadband Internet data speed starts from 256 kbps to 2 Mbps , simultaneous availability of Phone and Internet on the existing Telephone line ”Always on Internet”. No call charges for Internet access. ‘High on Value Low on Cost’ Service and 24 Hours Help line and Technical support on phone. Telephone will continue to work even in case of power failure at subscribers end. The tariff packages start from just 199Rs/month

Dataone is a product of broadband jaint BSNL and they have got a 24 hours problems resolving service, though i never saw any downtime with them since they offer connection via underground fiber connected land line Bphones.

I’ve been using tata indicom and whilst the service is as per expectations, they recently charged my credit card multiple times and now refuse to credit the amount back. They say they will adjust the amount with my future bills, howeever, that is not acceptable as why did they charge me multiple times in the first place. This is really rediculous and talking to their call centre doesn’t help.

Samit Shankar – You need to contact the consumer court and credit card issuing company to cancel these payments because thats not correct to over charge a customer.

I had very bad experience with both Tata Indicom and Reliance. Initialy i took a Tata Indicom connection (from the satelite phone) and the phone head set was not working for many months.. They did not do anything about the compliants..
Now i took another connection with Reliance..(PCMCI Card) and paid 3500 for the card. The person who sold the card gave me a second hand card and even without using the connection, i received a bill of 900 rupees in the first month. After lots of arguments with sonal director in Kerala, they have changed the connection to my name and waived the 900 bill. Now they started adjusting the bill to my account and that is when i stop dealing with them.
Neither Reliance or Tata does not know the meaning of service.

I’ve good experience with BSNL Dataone tough unsatisfied with their support staffs n office. You call support and end up getting a number and need to call that no and so on and at the end they won’t receive calls. Esp. this is prob. with BSNL of state Orissa (bhubaneswar)
Also underground fiber connection is still unimplemented in many areas. There a little bit rain would disconnect service…….and suck hours..once i was about to loose $$ from a paid review at my site due to this

All i can say is AIRTEL is the best broadband available… and better than BSNL and RELIANCE in KARNATAKA… i have used all the three and have married my Internet connection to AIRTEL as they are the best in giving everything I want their service is awesome.. they come to home within 2-3 working hours after my complaint whereas BSNL takes 2-3 days… I recommend AIRTEL in KARNATAKA

previously I have bsnl broadband 900/month unlimited when I change my flat I take airtel bb 450/month unlimited.speed of bsnl was great ,Airtel has slower speed in unlimited plan. Now Airtel increase cost for new 750/month in m.p.

Same happened to me also and TATA walky service is very poor…They cheated me ..

i am using airtel 256 kbps, vsnl 512 kbps. campare to speed both are same. i had worst experience with vsnl. I FEEL VSNL IS VERY WORST SERVICE PROVIDER COMPARE AIRTEL.
I RECOMMEND AIRTEL IS BEST.

I think mtnl is the best. i am using it for past 1,5 yrs. no complain. no server problem.no biling proble.cheapest and the fastest.I can say it is best from thje fact that there is a huge waiting for new connection for broadband service. my friends are waiting from past 6 months. I feel really lucky

Hi,
I have heard so many bad reviews/complaints regarding TATA/Vsnl but you will surprised to know that they are providing excellent services in Bhopal city, we have one Tata 512 Kbps and one Airtel 512 Kbps in our office so far no complaints both works fine.
We are using Tata from April 2007 though have had faced 4-5 downtimes which lasts no longner than 30 minutes.
I have noted remarkable difference in both connections speed, Tata speed tests always shows between 600-800 Kbps download rate and 550-600 Kbps upload rate while with airtel download is always less than 512 Kbps and upload less then 400 kbps. I believe we are getting good speeds from Tata because of dedicated wireline which only provides DSL Service.

The first mistake u ever make is buy a data card. Be it a reliance netconnect, tata plug 2 surf whiz, or any hell.
For all those willing 2 have a reliable net connection, there is hardly any option for BSNL broadband.
-No over-billing
-Optimum speeds
-No drop-outs
-500 plan-total free surfing.
-Lowest download charges.
-All together an excellent package.
-So i suggest, get a BSNL broadband as early as possible.
Although it may take a while for the connection to be installed but after that u should rarely have any problems,

i like to inform all of you that…DSL means speed should be 256kbps or more…….but except BSNL DATAONE(speed 256 kbps to 2 mbps) no nobody able to provide this much speed.
I know there is some problem with BSNL regarding tech supp. but there speed ,billing(No.1 for billing) is best among there comptetors.

Tata through EpyValley soft moden to istall connection spread in your laptop 2 virus folder: Program Files. All report come from avg antivirus, ewido- antyspyware, antivir antivirus and more….
maybe the connection work so slowly because some else suck
your line and your bill recharge. If you trayy to delete these virus …you must istall again the soft epivalley.

From my personal experience in Vizag, BSNL has a huge backlog in installing/activating DSL. They of course accept your application first, without letting you know they don’t currently have enough “ports”, and then have you run-around a long time before mightily doing you the “favor” of finally activating your connection. Avoidable – in favor of the private players, I think.

I am Using tataindicom wireless. I think it’s the worst internet service provider in our place ie. Aizawl. Their download speed is ok but surfing is very99999999 slow… to open a page it needs at least 1min, and online games cannot be played since i always lag out from the game

I wish to install broadband at home for basic internet use. Say upto Rs. 400 per month.
Which one’s the best in terms of minimum down-time, value for money, correct (specified speed), No wrong billing & Decent customer support?
I have a wireless router – so wish to have the cable connected directly to it – so I can save the trouble in case the best option is without modems available.

Both the services are worst to the max. Never ever need to compare with others.

[Note: In India if you ask for fixed speed Broad Band connection, for example 256Kbps line unlimited download, that cost will be near about Rs24000 per month. People should not expect such a type of connection. If you are expecting such a speed then you must be some were else in the part of world, ? just kidding.]
1) BSNL and MTNL provide good service only thing some times they cant resolve some hard wire issues. It may take some days to resolve it. But the Tech experts in the Customer care help line provides supports 24 X 7 365 days, it value to money, reliable,
2) Airtel Broadband (Airtel net-connect and data card are not good. Here we discuss about only Broad Band.)
3) Hathway Good but expensive
4) Sify Ok for checking mails, cheep in cost.

BSNL broadband is good compared to other all wireless internet, ..
billing system is good compared to other service provider. no hidden charges, no over billing, customer service center are available in all areas near to customer end.
