BSNL Broadband Unlimited Home Plans Tariff Slashed

April 28, 2008 by Amit Bhawani

BSNL Broadband Services earlier this month announced that they have reduced their broadband pricing on the Unlimited Home Plans of their Dataone 900 and 900 Plus plans which were considered to be one of the most applied broadband plans because of the unlimited data download features and 256kbps speed.

BSNL Broadband

BSNL is one of the best broadband services and with this kind of price decrease they can surely expect a high coverage with lot more clients signing up for their services. They also started offering free modems for 8Mbps broadband users in order to gain more clients which airtel was going to get for their Airtel 8Mbps Package.

All the existing customers under 900 & 900 Plus plans will be automatically shifted to the new pricing with effect from April 2008 and you dont need to contact the customer service about price changes.

@baskar, Brother, go for BSNL 500C for which they charge 500 bucks with 1.5 gb free + 175 call free + Night unlimited download. The speed compared to 750 plan is far better. In my system i get upto 1.8mbps in night. I easily downloads 2 gb on night unlimited. One more plan is 500C+ in this plan:
      2.5 gb free download
      Night unlimited
      50 local calls
      600 Rental

      • Avant Garde says

        October 17, 2009 at 7:36 am

You cant expect 50-60kbps in the unlimited plans as its bandwidth is limited to 30kbps. Your low bandwidth might be because of the no of users online at that moment.. or you will get a very low speed if you are beyond the 3km circle from the exchange..
Try downloading using any download manager and check out the real speed as you wont get your real bandwidth with browser down-loader.

My Land Line Number is 07122233057 and my Mobile No is 9422865554. I request you to send me the details of 3 G services and their charges. I am already a subscriber for ISEE on my Mobile but I am unable to view the ISEE as the updated link is not sent ot me. I request you to take care and provide me the requested services i.e. change in broad band plan and ISEE updated Link.

      May 21, 2009 at 3:01 pm

      @Nandkumar Pande,
      The 3G bsnl connection sucks
we wont get the 2 Mbps speed as they say..
we get that speed for downloading using some download managers but we wont get it for browsing

so its better you prefer home unlimited for 750

but if you need more speed for browsing you need to take 500 or any plan above that as we get unlimited night downloads

  18. monti says

    KB=8 kb
it means if u have 256 kbps speed then you get maximum 256 kbps (256/8=32 KBps)

So next time onwards dont confuse with KBPS and kbps.

but its bsnl na so usually the free usage timing will start with a delay i mean… it will start in a range from 2am till 2.21am..

Since this is subsidised conection, U can’t change the account in ur name. I suggest u can go for a new connection. Or else u can use the same account. If this is general account u can approach bsnl authorities to change it which may require some documents to complete the formalities.

I don’t know u r in which plan. Reason 1 is u have used youtube. Reason 2 – I think u r using bsnl wireless modem. Please lock it. Somebody might uses it. Go to internet explorer. type http://192.168.1.1 then use ur user id & password to logon. (most of the cases user id & password are same – admin & admin). As soon as u logged in u can see Device info, Advanced set, Wireless at the top left. Click Wireless and uncheck Enable Wireless. Just click Save/Apply. On ur modem WLAN light will go off. Now just click X mark at the top of ur to exit the program. If u use laptop and do not want to LAN connection, then u have to check the box Enable wireless and generate a password and define a MAC ID which is very safe. Still u get the bill above this u can opt for bsnl unlimited 750 plan (256 kpbs speed) or 1300 plan (512 kpbs speed). To do this just call 1500 from ur landline. Be careful the plan will take affect from the next month 1st only and also confirm next month 1st week that you’ve been migrated to that plan.

Dude, U have to contact BSNL office. 125 plan is good but think about ur telephone bill. 180+125 comes to 305 and u get just 400 mb download. Instead go for 299 plan which give u free rentfree landline and 1 GB download limit. The rental will 299 inclusive of landline. 1 thing u have to remember there is no free calls. Every call will be charged @ Re. 1 per call according to the pulse rate. I feel this is good plan for u. The time will take according to the feasibility available at ur place. I don’t know from where u r? Procedure just contact bsnl office and fill the application. Modem rental will be extra in both cases. I feel u can buy the modem instead of going for rental. If u still feel expensive u can go for type 1 modem which is available less than 1,000.

This is the best plan wherein u don’t have to pay telephone rental & there is no FREE USAGE. If u want to free usage in night hours, then 500C is good for u. Difference between ur plan and 500C is the speed. 299 u get 256 kbps max. and 500C is 2mbps. + U get rent free telephone and 175 calls free and download limit will be 1.5 GB.To migrate call 1500 or contact BSNL office

    i want to clear a doubt…they give 1.5 gb free download….
then they mention additional usage/download is .80paise per MB…..

for whom or for wht they will charge?

is they charge for downloading or usage of net?

    please explain it

    Regards

500 Combo Plan has 1.5 GB free usage. That include Upload and download usage and unlimited Usage from 2.00am till 8.00am. And that 1.5 GB is excluding the night usage. If you cross that 1.5 GB then you will be charged 80ps Per MB. So you will be charged 500rs + (extra usage*80ps).

Some times you will get your usage details only after 2 to 4 days. Check your maximum download speed, and if it is limited to 30-32 KBps then surely you are in Unlimited plan. Else file a complaint to your nearest BSNL office..
If you have your Portal ID with you then you should use that and password to login to http://www.data.bsnl.in where you will get your account details.

Dear Mohit, the plan changes only after 3rd of every month. The useage u can see only after 5th or 6th which has to update by bsnl. Still u can check whether ur plan has been changed or not. Just check the speed of ur broadband. Still ur speed is same then u have not been migrated. The difference between 750 & 250 plan is speed & usage. For 250 u get 2mbps whereas 750 plan u get 256 kbps speed. Pl note that 750 is much slower than 250 plan. Or u can call 1500 which is a toll free number and confirm ur migration.

For home Plan you will be having Phone rent+ 500rs for Broadband + Extra usage charge.. it has normal free call which you are having right now.. 2.5Gb free usage..

      500Combo the 500rs rent( phone +broadband).. 175 free calls.. 1.5Gb free usage..

Both plan has night unlimited download from 2am-8am..

If you are in a City you might be having more rental so i will recommend you for combo. but if you have more internet usage then i must say that you should take 500 home plan

I don’t know ur billing date. Every billing date u will be charged Rs. 750/- if u opt for monthly bill. Or U have to pay 7500 for annual bill payment, whereas u save 2 months rent and there is no monthly bill except telephone calls made by u. For this u have to contact ur exchange or call 1500. Telephone rental will be free of charge and and charges apply only if a call is made i.e., if u make 100 calls in a month Rs.100 will be charged.

    • Kini says

I don’t know from where u r?. bcz bsnl tariffs are differs from one place to another. BSNL recently introduced few plans. Pl check ur plan. If it is unlimited, u can browse 512 kbps for first 8 gb download/upload and thereafter your speed will be decreased to 256 kbps and there is no charges for upload/download since it is unlimited. Only speed varies after 8 gb. Also u get 400 calls free with rent free telephone. Pl check with ur exchange. As far as i am concerned, this is a good plan from BSNL.

I saw your comment. U & ur friend want to share this connection. The main connection will be on ur system. Ur friend has to buy an usb wireless B+G 2.0 adapter which can connect ur broadband to his system. This costs him around 800 bucks. But before that pl activate ur wireless as secured. Otherwise other people who are having laptop or wireless adapter can use ur connection. To do this go to internet explorer. type http://192.168.1.1 then use ur user id & password to logon. (most of the cases user id & password are same – admin & admin). As soon as u logged in u can see Device info, Advanced set, Wireless at the top left. Go to security. If Enable wireless is unchecked then just click it and generate a password in WAP3. The password will be ur DOB or anything which have atleast 8 numerical characters. This should be in between u and ur frined.I think u have wifi modem. Only this modem works for above. The plan which u have selected is a good plan among all plans. For any help pl contact me on this blog.

      Dear Hitesh,

For Broadband first u should have a landline. Landline connections will be available depending on exchange feasibility. Just check ur bsnl office. If feasibility is there, u will get within couple of days of maximum within a week time.

This broadband connection can be used on both laptop & pc. But u have to go for wireless modem. And be sure u have to enable password protection on ur modem or else somebody can take advantage of ur broadband. While installation, pl request to enable password protection with bsnl JE who visits ur place for installation.
